We have just booked the DLH from 20th Dec - 24th Dec!!!! Very excited and can't wait to start planning for our fabulous trip as you may have gathered from my previous post ;)

When I spoke to the very friendly and helpful lady on phone (who gave us 2 nights free offer too!) she asked if there was a special occasion, I said no, just to celebrate Christmas. But I am now thinking I wish I had said something as I've previously seen people saying they got a gift or balloons and stuff in their rooms because of special occasions.

I know I can't just make something up but it is one of our son's birthdays in the new year (7th jan) and being that time of year we usually do do something for him over the Christmas or New Year holidays for his birthday. Do you think that would count as a special occasion for us? Or shall I just leave it as it is, because she did say she was marking on our booking that we are "nice people" and requesting an upper floor etc. :)

Anyone else experienced this? Also wondered whether to ask for a gift for each of the children to be left in our room one morning as a start to the festivities! haha

Never booked direct myself but when Ive rang them for quotes I was asked if it was a special occasion I just assumed it was them being polite?

I think if you specifically ask for a gift for the children, especially at the DLH, you'll be expected to pay a stupid sum of money for it.

I'm sure you'll have a lovely trip to the DLH - its Christmas at DLP - you can't get much more special than that .

I was asked if we have a special occasion and said yes my birthday and then she went into a schpeil about what we could buy. I passed and explained that we just upgraded to DLH, that is enough for me.

I was asked this when we booked for Castle Club. It was a very special occasion (my sister's 50th birthday and celebrating her full recovery from a very grave illness). I have heard of people getting baskets of fruit or bottles of wine in their room, but it didn't happen to us, so I wonder if it is a random thing. :confused3

We were asked this when we booked the DLH last summer. I explained it was a surprise trip for my DDs 13th birthday. We were checking in on the morning of her birthday and she had no idea where we were going. We checked in with DD in birthday banner, badge the works and all we got was a Happy Birthday from the CM. However on another trip to the DLH we were upgraded to a family room with roses, 2 gift mugs filled with sweets for the children and chilled sparkling water waiting for us in the room. There was no special occasion:confused3 Checking into the HNY a pooh bear was waiting on the bed again no special occasion. In my opinion it seems to be random:confused3

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and for the advice, I think we may take something with us ourselves to leave in the room for the children and try and sneak it in while they are having breakfast one morning perhaps. I will leave the special occasion stuff then and hope that by her putting the 'nice people' tag on our booking we may at least get a good room hehe ;)

And yes you are right it will be very special anyway just being in the DLH at Christams time, we have never been at Christmas and it's my favourite time of year so can't wait :)

Best start the planning....:rotfl:

We got gifts when we stayed at the Castle Club and we were not celebrating anything, DD got a small plush and we got a bottle of champagne and flowers in the room. I knew it wasn't typical to get that at CC so was surpised.

We're staying in a Montana room in November and have had so many payment problems that we had to complain meant that by best friend Emma (Hargrave on here) was in tears after she got money taken out, then refunded, then taken out again - only to find out that the euro rate had changed and she'd lost £18! They refunded it, then told us we are having a complimentary breakfast at Cafe Mickey on the first morning we're there :thumbsup2 but that isn't all!

Due to the kids getting sick last time in Disney, we were also told that the hotel is putting on the "Disney touch" for both our rooms. I have no idea what that is (I'm hoping for the Snow White toiletries!) but we know we're getting it. We didn't ask for it, they said they could see what a roguh time everyone had had so offered to make this trip special :goodvibes

It's one of our parties 11th birthday while were are there. We didn't ask for anything special for it as just being there is enough. Though when we booked the meal, it's for 11 people, on the 11th November, for an 11th birthday...the CM laughed and thought we were crazy! It's booked for 12, which back home will be 11 so that's special enough for us :rotfl2:

So i'm not sure what to expect on this trip. We are both shareholders too this trip, so add that together with the above text, and we're already having a holiday of a life time - with out being there :thumbsup2
