Special nights on WBPC

It may be too early to know but I'm wondering if anyone has info on any special nights on WBPC (March 2022). We made platinum after our last cruise but haven't cruised platinum yet. All previous Disney cruises have been 7 day.

Formal/dressy night....since it is a two-week cruise, are there two of each? What nights are they likely to be....I seem to remember that the evening of the first day at sea is usually formal.

Is there a themed night (pirate, etc.)? What night might that be? Anything special the day of the canal crossing? (I know about the "swim".

Also, since it is a two-week, do platinum cruisers get two nights' credits at Palo?

My Panama Canal cruise was very early in DCL's career heading to the west coast, but we had 2 Formal ( nights 3 & 14) and 1 semi-formal (night 8) nights.

Typically, on all the cruises I've been on the first night is NOT formal. Not everyone has their formal dress ready (possibly needing pressing) for the first night.

Yes, we had a pirate night (night 13).

Since the cruise is one cruise (regardless of how long it is), I'd hazard a guess that you only get the Palo perk once during the voyage.

You might want to check out the Navigators from the 2019 cruise, https://disneycruiselineblog.com/20...-cruise-from-port-canaveral-february-24-2019/. The 2020 WBPC was a mess due to Covid, missed lots of ports.

Don’ know about the two Paulo diners for Platinum, we were only Gold in 2019. However at the gathering for Gold/Platinum members the WDT was full and most folks were Platinum. I don’t know if Palo could even handle all of them for just the one night.

If you want your passport stamped for Panama listen for the announcement for when Panama customs will be on the ship to stamp them at Guest Services.

We did the EBPC in 2019 and we are scheduled again for next month. Someone from our cruise asked shoreside for a schedule of special days and they were told there are 2 formal nights: days 2 & 11 and a semi-formal night on day 5. Typically there is a Pirate night, though ours will probably be similar to what is happening on the Dream & Fantasy right now which is no real celebration but people will still dress up and they will have the menu in the restaurants. They are also doing the split fireworks show. You only get one Palo meal for Platinum but if you want to book extra days for a fee, there is usually some availability. As mentioned, there is a special afternoon event one day for Platinum & Gold members in the theater. The cruise was probably 75% platinum and gold members so it was packed. But they served Champagne and gave out treats and put on a behind the scenes show with one of the stars. I don't recall anything really special on the transit day other than waking up super early and being shocked how late we were to the party! They had coffee and pastries out on deck for all of the early risers and it was just a really great energy. The cruise is also much lighter on the crowds so it's nice that the ship doesn't feel as crowded and I think the crew is more relaxed. Since there are so few kids, they will even open up the kids club for adult activities. There are so many more shows and activities it would be hard to list them all here. Definitely look at old navigators to get a feel for some of the events. I am really excited to go again even with the restrictions. I hope by the time you sail it is a little more "normal" but I have to guess that even with the restrictions it will be amazing.

True, but the onboard event schedule was maintained. We had 2 formal nights, a pirate night, and a semi formal night in terms of dress.

OP - I’d keep an eye on the EBPC later this year to see how it all plays out.

I’ll also add that our cruise group organized some special dress nights too. They did dapper night etc. If you are in your group and enjoy themes, you might do some of that too.

We only received one complementary Palo meal.
The crossing day is a fun day, people were gathering at the front of the ship at 5am, which was way too early for me.
We spend a lot of time on our balcony watching and some time on deck. It was way too hot to be out in the sun all day. People stayed out by the front for that view and were burned.

There was a pirate night.
They have 14 different menus in the MDR, so we got to try some new menus which we enjoyed.
As a PP stated look for the navigators from the sailing for a lot more detail.
We loved the cruise, 14 nights is amazing.

We are booked on the March WBPC and I'm afraid to look at old Navigators. Given the fact that our recent 3-nt sailing on the Dream only offered 1 live show (B&TB) instead of 3, I'm afraid that comparing to "normal" cruises will only leave me disappointed. I'd really rather sail any long cruise (10-14 nts) when things are normal and there's a full amount of entertainment. Then part of me worries that once the Wish enters service, there may be a ship that stays on the west coast permanently, thus no need for a PC sailing.
So I am torn: do this PC sailing before they're possibly eliminated and deal with very limited entertainment offerings vs waiting for cruising to return to normal and probably pay a lot more in a few years, if it's even available at all.

My current plan is to see how the Nov EBPC cruise is handled and decide after that.

We were also on that cruise. You’ve captured things well. I admit I was one of those early risers planted at the front of the ship during the canal transit. In fact, we had the position right in the middle of the ship. It was awesome. Beautiful clear sky that enhanced my pictures.

I was prepared for the experience because we had done the EBPC in fall 2017, and it was cloudy/rainy during the transit. I also got there too late to be able to get a good location to get some pictures of the sliding gates moving across the locks. Second time was charmed.
