Special Memories...lets hear them!

I was just wondering if anyone had any really magical or memorial stories about their disney holidays that they would like to share?

Last year while watching the parade minnie came up to one of my daughers and kisses her.It was lovely to watch her face light up and she hugged minnie back.My dad who came with us on that trip was sobbing at that sight. :

One of my fav memories was when Pinocchio stole my 'cotton candy' and ran around main street with it, it made my day!!!

My favourite memory was from the first year we went, we'd arrived at the MK way early (mixture of jet lag and transportation and not knowing how far it was etc etc) and we had really good viewing spots for the opening ceremony, we'd no idea about the character train or anything and it was so magical seeing it all for the first time, My sons and Mums faces were a picture, I could hardly see them for tears in my eyes. When we'd booked the holiday last minute it had been a toss up between that and the caribbean, I love the caribbean but immediately knew we'd made the right choice.
All that love and the place hadn't even opened yet

Two favourite memories for me

Getting married at Sunset Pointe at Disney's Polynesian Resort looking over at the Castle

Being Grand Marshall's at the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon parade

My favourite memories are -

- Arriving at The Polynesian Resort for our first ever time, being driven in the golf buggy to our room, opening the door and seeing the most beautiful view in the world - over the lagoon, beach and cinderella castle.

- DS and DD playing around with Chip and Dale at 'Ohana breakfast. They spent such a long time with them, it was wonderful.

this memory goes back to 1989...our first trip to Florida...my son about 7 yrs old at the time went to sit on a little ledge whilst we were waiting for the monorail at the end of a very long day...he got talking to a little boy who was obviously American and after a minute or so I heard him say "This has been the best day in the whole of my life"

we went back twice after that and then again in 2003 when he worked over there for a year in the Rose & Crown.......

off again this year with our grandchildren more memories coming up I'm sure!!!!!

Being chosen as Family of the Day at Epcot - opening the park in front of hundreds of people and my DH (who doesn't really "do" Disney) not having a clue why they had chosen us or what we had to do !! As soon as they pulled us out of the crowd i started to cry Made the rest of our holiday and i have dinned out on the story

In Disney Studios, Meg talking to my daughter cos they shared red hair and Hercules showing my son how to be a strong man. I think this one tugged the heart strings because it was SO unexpected.

We were on the 7 night Disney cruise in 2004, we were just wondering around exploring the ship not long after boarding, my DD decided to try out a sun lounger, along came Mickey & Pluto & layed down on a lounger either side of her. Brilliant

My magical memory was on our first morning. We had booked an early breakfast at Crystal Palace and we were one of the first people in. Andrew (DB 9) was chosen as chef of the day! Great interaction and it made Andrew's day. He had learning difficulties and we had spent a long time explaining what we would be doing on holiday, but this was something really special! He still has the chef hat (slightly squashed!!!)

Haven't got anything to match any of these, but really enjoying them, so keep them coming.

It does remind me of our first trip in 1992 - so many happy memories when our girls were 7 & 5. Elder dd was chosen to go up on stage at a dinner show at the Mercado - had completely forgotten about it until I read this thread, so thank you! I've also got some fantastic photos/memories of them at the petting zoo and Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. Oh, and of them rushing to hug Fred Flinstone and George Jetson at Universal Studios.

My most magical memory is standing watching Wishes. 7 months earlier I'd had a tumour removed and during the op they damaged a nerve in my groin making my leg numb so I was unable to stand/walk and went home from hospital on a zimmer frame. So after the radiotherapy, physiotherapy, scans, tests (and worrying would I be able to walk round WDW) I stood watching Wishes thinking 'I made it'.

I haven't been near this site for the 3 years since our last trip. Now starting to think about another trip in 2007 (delay due to new addition to family)

Glad to see this fantastic site hasn't changed a bit and my wife is already moaning about me disappearing to the pc for days on end whilst planning commences.

My own magic moment is as follows.

Have a reputation for not showing my feelings (archetypal accountant) and can only recall being moved to tears on a couple of occassions in the last 10 years. These being the death of my mother and birth of both children.

But there is one other occassion. Arriving before gates open at the Magic Kingdom on day 1 of our holiday. My 6 year old daughters lit up like a beacon when the train arrived an Mickey Mouse and the dancers got off and performed at the park opening. The magic of Disney was there in that instant and is something I will never forget. Even as I write this the cynical side of me is struggling to deal with such sentimental mumbo jumbo. But it happened, was magical and I look forward to seeing the same reaction with my son on our next trip.

Some lovely posts here

I have so many, but one would have to be the afternoon we were bobbing around Castaway Creek at Typhoon Lagoon (the lazy river ride), when, much to our surprise, Goofy got into a rubber ring and floated right along next to us for ages!

My other would be the first time my 3 year old DD met Minnie Mouse. We never did get a photo of her face with Minnie as she wouldn't stop hugging her

These are all great!

Our first trip to WDW was sept 2004, 9 months after DH suffered a major stroke. The long put off trip to florida suddenly became a priority. Disney did not disappoint! The magic was well and truly there in all the great cm's we met and the way the characters really took time to mess about with the kids. Me and DH kept getting tears in our eyes, and I actually cried when we first saw philharmagic, coz i thought to myself 'they made this for us'!

We went again last sept and it was just as great. DD (11 next week) wants to apply for the international program when she's older, and spoke to a lovely girl from liverpool working at the rose and crown, who gave her lots of advice. She wants to spread more magic to the people she meets.

I think the most magical thing for me was in jan 2005 and it was our last night in the world. We went to watch Spectro. For 2 weeks we had always just missed meeting Peter Pan, figuring we'd just find him another day. Well, the last day, they cut off the line before we entered. My kids are big Peter fans so I felt really bad for them. Anyway...Peter came over at Spectro just to talk to my two kids They could hardly speak they were so thrilled and I just couldn't believe our luck. Tink was definately looking out for us that night
