We're taking the family to HHI this August. My daughter just realized that they will be celebrating their 10th anniversary while we're there. So we volunteered to keep the grandkids busy while they have a romantic evening.

I was thinking that A Private Affair (I think that's it) would be a great way to celecbrate your 10th. Is it special enough for that? Is dinner served in your villa, or can they have it somewhere else on property? If someone could give me the links to the discussions on this topic, that would be great!

Or... if there's any other place on HHI that you'd recommend for a really special night, I'd love to hear about it!

We did "A Private Affair" last year and it is truly special. Chef Gordon is great, and works with you on the menu. They now do it at the restaurant at the beach house (after it closes for the day), and you have a wonderful ocean view. He sets the table nicely too, and there are different wine selections with each course. We are going back this April and are going to do it again. Last year my parents were with us, and we treated them for their anniversary, this year they are not going, but we are still going to do it. I think he is coming up with some new menu ideas, but my recommendation is to have the crabcakes -- they are fabulous! It is a night to be remembered.

I totally agree with VMS...

I truly cannot think of a more "special" way to celebrate an anniversary while at Hilton Head! The food is great, Gordon does a wonderful presentation, and the wine is plentiful!

Email Gordon at ChefLCC@cs.com to reserve the date! Gordon will email you his menu selections, but feel free to ask for something else if there is a "favorite" that you think they would prefer.

We did Private Affair last July with a group of friends, and will do it again in April with our family, since it will likely be our last trip to HH before our daughter leaves for college.

:(

Thanks! I'll email Chef Gordon today. I like that he has it at the Beach House so that we can use the room without interrupting anything.

15 years ago I would have posted that same message, but with a :). Heh.

I just got my Members' Clubhouse email, and it's got this in it:

...for a truly special evening, make reservations for "A Private Affair"—Chef Gordon will assist you in creating your very own menu including appetizers, entrees, and desserts matched with the appropriate wines. He'll then prepare it for you tableside in an oceanfront dining room at Disney's Beach House! Be sure to make advance reservations for "A Private Affair" before arriving at the resort.
So now that all of DVC knows about it, I'd better get my butt in gear and make that reservation!

There are many great places to go in HH for this type of occassion. Places like CQ, Charleston, Charlie's (french), Santa Fe, Alexander's, Fitzgerald's are just a few that come to mind.

I just received the new menu (Gordon is also welcome to suggestion and is willing to prepare anything you'd like- you are NOT limited to the provided menu). Here are the details:

I got that menu, too...We're doing Private Affair again in April. (This time with our teenagers -- last time was with a group of adults) We're having such a hard time deciding what to get; we may just have to do it more than once, LOL!!
