Special DVC Preview?

My family and I are attending the preview tomorrow (June 29) at 3pm. we aren't in the financial position to purchase any additional points on our membership, but we are very excited to see the inside of BLT.

I will take some camera phone photos and give everyone an idea of what they are offering after we attend tomorrow evening.

Can't wait to see more pictures and read reports of what people think.

Any updates???

And another question . . . I will be at WDW July 21-24 and did not receive the email "invitation". Was responding via an email link the only way to register?

My invitation had a link that I clicked on.

I will be attending July 11 at 9am, and I cannot wait, this trip I will be staying in a TreeHouse Villa at Saratoga Springs. I am a member and I did luck up on a reservation at Bay Lake Tower for my trip for the Not So Scary Halloween Party on 10/31, so it will be nice to see the Resort, before we stay there in October.

:)Unfortunately, I am stuck in NY and will be unable to attend the Special DVC Preview at BLT. Does anyone know what floor the MKV studios are located on? I can't seem to find that info anywhere? TIA

We attended the BLT Special Preview yesterday but didn't take any pictures (sorry :confused3 ).

It was held in one of the 2nd floor conference rooms (Ballroom of America?) and consisted of the following:

Approx. 45 min presentation that showcased "Other" DVC options such as Adventures by Disney, RCI trades for weekends, DCL cruises, romatic getaways, etc. Entertainment provided by 4 acapella singers (similiar to "Four for a Dollar") and the "Wish-Meister", who was dressed like the silverery-white Mad Hatter but talked like Paul Lynde. He gave away luggage tags, binoculars, and rice krispie treats to everyone in the audience. Major raffle prize was a week stay at some RCI resort. They were also using the electronic polling gadget dueing the presentation.

After the slide show, Minnie and Mickey invited us into the next room for a "party" that featured ocktail sandwiches (turkey, tuna, cucumber), veggies and dip, and fruit kabobs with a chocolate sauce. There were also iced tea, lemonade, coffee, tea and a freezer with frozen treats (mickey bars, ice cream sandwiches, itzakadozies, and fruit bars). There was DJ music, some activities and a trivia thing.

Groups were then called to take the tour (based upon numbered stickers given out at registration). we took the escalator to the 4th floor and crossed the bridge (!) :woohoo: to BLT. There was security at the bridge entance and DVC guides every 50 feet (or so it seemed).

We took the elevator up to the 3 BR Grand Villa, which is split story : living room, master, laundry downstairs and 2 bedrooms with 2 queens upstairs with a little sitting area over looking the min living room.

After this we walked out to the Top of the World members lounge that has views of bay Lake and MK. You could tell we were very close to the park because the roof of Space Mountain was just a few hundred feet away.

We were then offered more snacks while we waited for guides to talk business. We were taken down to the fifth floor where we toured the 2 BR, 1BR, and studios.

Gotta go now, family is waiting...

I will finish up later tonight.

Steve

We went to one of the previews today at 2.30pm. We totally forgot to bring a camera, so I apologise for no pictures :scared1:

The presentation was just as the previous poster mentioned...they went over the basics of DVC, why it would work for you etc. There were videos about the different resorts, Adventurers by Disney, the RCI resorts etc. The acapella group was good, they broke up the presentation and kept everyone alert! The Wishmeister (sp?!) was pretty funny, he gave away luggage tags, binoculars and YUMMY rice krispie treats. The whole presentation went on for about an hour and a half, but it went quickly and they kept the pace pretty steady.

Then we went through into a sort of dance party with Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale. There was a DJ playing music, and a trivia game, plus food like mini sandwiches, pastries, Mickey ice cream bars etc. There were drinks as well. After that, people were going to be taken through in groups to preview Bay Lake Towers, but we got talking to a DVC cast member and when we expressed a (small) interest in buying in, he took us right through to BLT to talk to a guide.

We got to see a grand villa, a one bedroom and a studio. They are bee-ooo-tiful!!! Very modern, a lot like the regular Contemporary rooms in their style. And the views are AMAZING!!! Obviously the Magic Kingdom views are the best, you are so close to Space Mountain and I'm sure the view of the fireworks will be incredible. But to be honest, the views across the back towards Wilderness Lodge are pretty as well, very peaceful. The studios seemed a little small, but the other size rooms were good, and I loved the Grand Villas with the huge windows! We also got to see the Members Lounge, which was pretty small but had a good size outdoor viewing area for the fireworks. We found out that music will be piped across the skybridge between the Contemporary and BLT, and if you have an MK view you can hear the Wishes! music through your TV as you're watching them!

We loved everything, it was a very nice building with breathtaking views...and in case anyone was wondering...we are now proud owners of 200 points at BLT!!! We were THAT impressed!!! :cool1:

Let me be the first to say "Welcome Home".

Did you have kids with you, and if so what did they do while you were in the presentation?

We don't have kids yet (I'm 23, DH is 25 so no kiddies for a few years...perhaps when we've paid off DVC!!!) but there were a few kids at the presentation - they were all very well behaved. The presentation was kept at a good pace...I have a short attention span but I didn't feel restless or anything, and it went by quickly.

Thank you for the welcome! I'm so happy right now!!!

And bought DVC, I'm impressed.

We own a house in Clermont and still have DVC,my wife won't let me sell.

We are snowbirds. We are scheduled for a tour in two weeks while we are down there. Just wanted to know what the grandkids,9 & 6 would do while we were there.

Good luck with DVC you will love it.

Rich

Anyone going July 24th at 7 PM? Just curious..........

Just to finish what I started, the tour went well and the units look great...very modern and fits in well with the Contemporary decor of "What the future might have brought". (I almost wanted to look for buttons under the kitchen cabinets to bring down hidden rotisseries and ovens.)

Don't forget to ask for your DVC Fast Passes! They will give you an DVC card that can be inserted into a Fast Pass machine and is good for 3 FPs. They will give one card to everyone in the party taking the tour, so we were given 4 cards.

FYI - we discovered that you did not have to wait for the FP return time shown above the machines. The FP printed was good immediately and had a return window for 1 hour from the time issued (Eg - You inserted the DVC Exchange Pass at 11:30 AM, The FP issued has a return time of 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM!). Another wonderful bonus was that these DVC passes could be used at the Birthday FP machines. This worked great at DHS Toy Story Midway Mania. They were all out of FPs for the day at 5 PM but we went to the open Birthday machine and were issued 4 FP's good right then. Since the posted wait time was 150 minutes, we felt blessed to be part of DVC!

Okay, back to business. The current promotion for BLT depends on how many points you buy/add-on. Regular pricing is $112 per point. 100+ points add-ons will receive $12/pt discount, 160+ points will receive $15/pt discount, and 200+ points will receive $17/pt discount. No bonus points available as there are not any "developer points" being carried over in this use year.

We did the special promo today. Are already members but want to add on. Did not recieve an invite that I know of...but just walked up to the desk to ask a few Q's and were told to go right on it. It was a really cool experience! The dance party was really neat! What a fun way to promote DVC. BLT was truley awsome...would suggest that everyone go by and see it!
