Special Discount Weird Question

I have an odd question and hold times are really long for DCL, so I thought I'd see if anyone knows!

I have friends who sailed on the Fantasy in January 2016; this was a sailing when it had engine troubles so it missed CC and limped back to Port Canaveral. They gave everyone onboard 20% off a future cruise. They had three cabins with their children and grandchildren. Now they want to sail and use their 20% discount but they are taking some of the grandchildren along with another adult who was NOT on that January sailing.

If they put the grandchildren into a second cabin with the other adult, is that cabin eligible for the 20% off discount? Do the children qualify to use the discount even though they were neither the lead guests in January 2016 nor can they be the lead guest in this cabin?

And this 20% discount would be one per cabin, right? Not one per person?

We were issued a 15% voucher for an issue with our cabin, and we had four persons in two cabins...we received four vouchers each naming a different occupant for 15% off a upcoming cruise...the conditions in the voucher is that they are not transferable...so, only the person named on the voucher would get the rate reduction for their portion of the upcoming cruise...

Exactly as stated. Only those specific pax aboard the affected vessel will receive the benefits.

It is tied to the CC #, and name.

I will point out though often any IIROPS benny is stackable with OBB, etc. So ...

If you had an onboard disruption that eventually became a 10% off future cruise within 2 years.
Or whatever.
That benefit is tied to your CC # and can be combined with the On Board Booking benefit.
Or others.... That some may have.

So if you got 10% off due to ship a day late to port. And you booked a future sailing aboard.
You can combine them for 20% off a future sailing.

At least that has been our experience.

Don't let the CS Agents cheat you out of this stack-able benny.
They will try. Trust me.

Often you have to speak to a supervisor to get them to apply both bennies.

Good luck.

Sorry my memory sucks.

We had 20 or 25% off, plus OBB of 10% off. So 30 to 35% off a sailing once. Plus the $200 OBC too. Maybe it was $300 OBC then. That was suite. lol.

It happened again too. Although not as favorable as above.

Some here, and elsewhere book the first sailings out of drydock just for these potential discounts.
A vessel just out of drydock may not be ready, then the company will cancel and offer great bennies.
It has happened in the past. .... It will happen again.
The trick is to pick and book the "right" sailings that will fail.

I will pick the Fantasy out of drydock, on that short 3 day sailing to CC.
Not sure of date.

Book that one for a discount.

Of course the problem is it may sail with half construction done. And it will continue aboard during the sailing.
It has happened prior. Construction while sailing often disturbs pax.

Maybe not.
3 days could give you 10%.

But 10% off a CL 11 day southern sailing does add up.

See my point.

Work it. Time it. Abuse DCL. lol.

Your friends will need to check the specifics of the offer they received. Typically it is per-passenger and tied directly to the passengers impacted on the original cruise. So the discount would not be available to another adult, though I believe you can mix-and-match passengers in the same cabin (for your example, 1 adult without discount plus 2 kids with discount). Also as to stacking discounts... some have specifically stated the special discount cannot be combined with an OBB or other offer; but that hasn't always been the case. Your friends should have received details of the discount including restrictions if any, but they can call to confirm.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks everyone! I didn't realize that it would be per passenger versus per cabin, so I appreciate all the help! They are now booked with the 20% off discount for all five of them in two cabins!
