Does anyone know the process you go about to call a restaurant before your trip to request special dining needs???? Is there a specific number you call. Who do you speak with??? What do you do once your arrive.. etc etc.. i'd love to hear what other peoples expereinces were. has anyone ever gotten a hard time with it? Thanks for any info!

You can have it listed under your reservation if you like or also you can notify them of your special needs when checking in at the podium. From there, the chef will most likely come to the table and tell you what he could make you. That's what generally happens when you list special dietary needs.

By "special dining needs", do you mean dietary restrictions (such as allergies)? Or are you meaning special requests, such as a celebration cake or something?
I am guessing diet restrictions.
All you need to do is mention it when making your ADRs, and again to your server.

My DS has food alllergies. What we have done is contact the special diets folks by email as squirrel recommended and I told them when we made our ADRs and they made a note of it on the reservations. When I contacted the special diets folks by email they did send me lots of useful information and a form to fill out. That form was sent to every restaurant that we have ADRs for. Also, when you check in for your ADRs, you need to notify the seating hostess and they should notify the chef and the chef will come out and talk to you. If you are at a CS instead of a TS location, then the manager will talk to you about your special dining needs.

Just have them make note of any restrictions on your ADR. When you arrive they will confirm restrictions with you and the chef will come out and discuss your options with you.

If you want a special cake you have to do that separately. The only problem I had with my gluten-free, dairy free son is desserts, he does not care for rice/soy ice cream and prefers sorbet, plus he is not too fond of the prepackaged GFCF brownies they have everywhere. I will probably call ahead for some sorbet and GFCF chocolate chip cookies next time we go.

WDW handles special diets beautifully and is one of the many reasons we are passholders.
