Hi everyone! :wave2:

I'm in the VERY early stages of planning a birthday trip for my mom and I. Don't tell her I told you but she will be the big 6-0. She wanted to do something special and mentioned a Disney weekend. Sounds good to me! So I want to eat somewhere that we haven't eaten at before and that will give us a memorable meal. Any ideas? I was thinking California Grill. Also Coral Reef (although we did eat there once). Maybe one of the restaurants at GF? Not sure really. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

how about artist point followed by a fireworks cruise? actually, you can pick up the cruise at any of the MK resorts. at the GF i would suggest narcoossee's. another restaurant i would recommend is jiko at AKL. although it is not a MK-area restaurant, it is worth the trip to AKL. it is one of our favorites. happy birthday to your mom! enjoy:duck:

Ok, so I looked through some menus and my planning books and have made a list of potential places for the birthday dinner:

California Grill
Coral Reef
Narcoose's
Citrico's
Le Cellier
Jiko's
Fulton's Crab House
Boma
Artist Point

I have not eaten at any of these restaurants, except for Coral Reef which was about 3 years ago I think. I'd really appreciate any opinions on these restaurants. Thanks! :worship:

If you have enough lead time to get a reservation, how about the chef's table at Victoria & Albert's? Then have a fireworks cruise in the Seven Seas Lagoon?

Here is what I think is the BEST review of an experience of the chef's table at V&A's.

Wow - that sounds amazing! But I think that might be a little too extravagant for us. It definitely is on my Disney to-do list - but not for this trip I don't think. So many decisions. :coffee:

I love all these recommendations like everyone is made of money! I would barely be able to afford the Chef's Table, let along adding a couple hundred bucks more for a cruise after! Whew!! And we do pretty wekk for ourselves...but still...

I am doing Narcoossee for my birthday dinner! Everyone I have told (even the person who made my ressies on Disney Dining) has commented what a great place it is, what great food it is, and that it is a perfect place for a birthday dinner.

Happy Birthday to your mom

where's a good place for a solo to celebrate a 50th bday?

Shannon.......I've already decided on Cali Grill for the next trip. The chef from the Flying Fish has moved over there and the reviews have improved in just the last few months. Great food and a table by the window around sunset and fireworks time.....sounds very memorable. Don't forget to let the restaurant know it's a BIG birthday! Have fun!

Check out the Sticky on the top of this board for birthday cakes you can order in various restaurants. Some of the cakes are beautiful!

Hey Shannon! Ok heres what I can tell you, Narcoossee's is my favorite restaruant, it is a 2credit ts on the dining plan though.

What I enjoyed is (1) the food it was perfect for my liking!
(2) you can view the water pageant as well as the fireworks from the dock right outside the restaurant and loved it! It was a perfect way to end a lovely evening.

Coral Reef, you can get the banner and the personlaized menu I mentioned to you by calling in advance. If need be I have the phone numbers and names, I can give then to you today while DS is in school!!!

Le Cellier is my Dh's favorite restaurant and will be clebrating his brithday there for dinner and Biergarten for lunch he loves that place too.

Both places were happy to tke my cake order too.

The other ones I am sorry I have not dined at yet... I do have ADRS for Boma's though for this trip!

Anything I can help with feel free to pm me I will give what I do have!

Happy Monday!
Brigitte

Thanks for all of your replies and suggestions! I think I'm really leaning towards Cali Grill. It was the restaurant I thought of immediately. Plus I have been wanting to eat there  . But it is her day so I'm going to print out a few menus and let my mom decide. SO excited!

Thanks again! :flower3:

I didn't like Citricos. I went there for my birthday dinner a couple of years ago. Things started out okay but the waiter disappeared after he dropped off the food and never bothered to check back with us. There were also lots of kids; one was especially misbehaving - knocking things over on the table. I think that he had been there for a while though. I guess the restaurant wasn't what I thought it was suppose to be.

I really like Jiko's. It's pretty quiet (the times that we've gone) and the service was fantastic. Plus, I like wandering around after dinner and looking at the animals.
