Always a subject close to my heart. This trip the results were pretty good. Was able to find Tiger at the Blue Zoo, Saratoga Lager at SSR, Dos Equis on draft at San Angel, Tucher Weizen on draft at Raglan Road (and in the bottle at of all places, the Brown Derby), Sierra Nevada at the Sand Trap, Anchor Steam at California Grill, and Casa at Jiko.
As an aside, Raglan Road had a couple of beer "samplers" much as you might find in a brew pub--I got one that included Boddingtons Cream Ale, Stella Artois, Smithwicks, and Tucher Weizen.
The Brown Derby also had some good selections-that already noted Weizen, plus Kirin and Amber Bock on draft. And Le Fin du Monde in bottles!!

Beer samplers at Raglan Road???
Please, I must know more about this great thing of which you speak.
Any further details available, such as price, sizes, anything??
Thanks,
Robert P

My husband enjoyed the beer flight at RR last week as well except he chose the one that included Guinness. :thumbsup2

Glad your trip was successful when it came to beer. :sunny:

Yep--I think beer "flight" was how they put it at RR..
Can you help Robert P with what DH's flight contained??
RobertP:
Can't recall the prices, but there are just those two "flights". There were 4 samples in each, and the size was a bit larger than what I find in most "tasting" flights. In fact, there was enough room in the Weizen sample for a slice of lemon!!

I'll ask my husband if he remembers what other samples he had.

I found our DDE receipt from that meal. His was called the Province Flight and was $8.50. I think both were priced the same, weren't they?

The samples come on this thin paddle kind of thing and the server placed it with the handle sticking off the table. Cute presentation but I know I would be sure to knock it off the table if I were the server!

thanks for the info! This sounds right up my husband's alley (i don't like beer, but we're going during the wine festival, so that's OK!). Was the flight that included Guiness all darker beers? Because that's what he likes....

Well, there weren't any really light colored beers in it. The lightest was a red. The next two were deeper in color with the Guinness darkest of all.

Is Dos Euqies (however you spell it) and Sierra Nevada rare where you live?

I don't know how much anyone cares, but you can get Sierra Nevada at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Glad you were able to find Anchor Steam at CG! Last time we were there, they were out.

Dos Equis and Sierra Nevada aren't rare here, but not by any means mainstream. In the stores I go to, if they have them at all they're tucked away behind hundreds of cases of Coors or Bud Light.

Robert P, my husband said the second flight had a sample of black and tan. He also thinks the red was just called Irish Red. I think the heat was getting to him because I remember it as a fairly common red at least around here....maybe Killian's Red? He can't remember the other sample but says he enjoyed it and will order a beer flight again at RR.

Uncle is Le Fin du Monde a Belgium beer or.....gasp...a French beer?

I'll let DH know about this for our next trip - he'll be in 7th heaven!! He's become quite the beer snob - thanks for the info!

BTW we name all of our pets after beers:
Border collie - "Dundee" (Honey Brown)
Pug - "Shabadoo" (a local black & tan - her colors!!)
Cat - "Taddy" Porter
Cat - "Drayman"'s Porter
Bird - "Boomer" for Shnortzenboomer (SW Colorado)

The kids totally crack up when we're in a restaurant and DH orders one of our pets! They definitely make for some unique names. I'll have to check the first post again - there was a name that caught my eye for a future pet!

Besides La Fin du Monde they also have Maudite, Trois Pistoles and Blanch de Chamby at Le Cellier and Trois Pistoles at the Derby.

Nervous when I saw Beck's O'fest and Light to be at the Germany F&W booth...hope they're not going backwards.

Tucher at RR is a nice add. They also have this in bottles at the Crew's Cup lounge.

Tis a pity that they mix beer in with the pop.
Any place have Yuengling on tap?
Thanks for the info.
