I phoned today to ask for Special Assistance with my DD who will be 12. I was told that they would request 2 bulkhead seats (for me and DD) and then 2 window seats behind this and 1 aisle seat. The seats she has requested are 37 a/c and 38 a/c/d. Apparently the bulkhead seats are not allocated until 24 hrs before the flight and infants take priority. She has also warned that we might have to sit apart - me+dd / dh+dd+dd.

I asked if dd could board first and she thought thet would be OK. She said that they try to allow special needs children to get off the plane first but that this is not guaranteed.

I wanted to know what other people had experienced with Special Assistance and what would be reasonable to expect.:goodvibes

I have not gone with virgin but have gone most other airlines with my brother who has special needs For us its had been first on and last off but we have to wait for the wheelchair :) Its the same for us I sit with my brother and the rest of my family sit in another row.

My DD has no mobility issues, so perhaps that is why she couldn't get off first - which is fair enough. The lady at Virgin said that 'most people want to be off first after a 9hr flight and there might be some pushing and shoving'. Sounds great.:confused3

yep we only have to wait because of the wheelchair but don't mind as the planes normally empty pretty quickly... I have never seen pushing or shoving but as soon as the plane is at the gate people tend to get straight up and into the aisle
