Among your heliopsis, coreopsis, astillbe and other "usual" species in your garden, what plant are you delighted to see every year...what is that special and unusual plant that you are delighted to see each year?

I have a couple...one is my black hollyhock...it is definatly a stand out in the garden this time of year.
Another is a two color asiatic lilly...yellow and orange..beautiful.
A third is a varigated phlox named 'Nora'.

Care to share your standouts?

You have a phlox named 'Nora'? Awww...how sweet! :) Of course it would be a standout!! ::yes:: :D What are the colours, Vanessa?

Offhand, I can't really think of anything that I have that would be considered unusual. :scratchin Oh wait, what about my new Black Negligee (Bugbane)!! :smooth: It was just planted a while back, but so far, it's doing very well! If we're still here next year, I'll be looking forward to seeing how it's matured.

Some of my plant's performances this year have been less than stellar, unfortunately. What's the opposite of a standout? ;) :D

and here I thought your thread title was a call-out to me, Amid. :)

Well, if the thread title fits......;) :D ::yes:: I wonder where she went?

Oh, I just realized that the oppostie of a standout would be a sit-in, right? :scratchin

I'm starting to feel like I'm talking to myself......

I have a lot of special plants but nothing unusual. I like to plant things that have a special name association. So, I have a Just Joey rose, had a couple of Joseph's Coat roses, have a Jacobs Ladder plant, etc. because of my 2 boys. I'll have to do a walk through of the garden to think of anything else.

I have so many, at different times it hard to pick. Right now it's daylily and astilbe explosion. My favorite of the daylilies is a cream colored with a deep purple halo around light yellow throat. (can't remember name) Favorite astilbe is a tall pink variety.

One of my favorite flowers in the garden has just finished blooming and they are my Japanese Iris's. I now have 5 varieties and love them all.

My prettiest display this year was a 3 plants combo at the edge of a perennial garden. A Jobnson's Blue Geranium, A Purple Lantana and centered slightly in the front A Blue Fescue.

my voodoo lily is a favorite but I wish it would bloom....mine is planted in the ground I do not remove it and bring it in.

Hopefully it will bloom soon. But if not the leaves are striking enough.
