Hi,

I just saw the list for the gift exchange. Is that for the Fish Extenders? Looks like quite a list. What types of gifts do people give? Do you do for each person in the cabin or just the cabin? I'm curious as this seems like it could be kinda expensive and I'm not sure now if I can participate. Any info on what to give would be helpful.

Thanks.

Calling all Disneyland experts!!!!

I'm trying to think of something special to do in 2009 to celebrate my 40th birthday (I'm not as lucky as Tracy who is celebrating 40 years with 20 days of Magic!!!)....and I was thinking of maybe going to Disneyland....we have only been to DL once before for 3.5 days (after the Panama Canal cruise in 2005) and I don't feel that we really "experienced" the parks. We stayed at the Grand Californian and it was beautiful....so now here are my questions:

1. how many days would one REALLY need to see Disneyland and the California Adventure to their fullest?
2. how far away from DL is the San Diego Zoo? Could it be seen in 1 day????
3. which hotel would you choose The Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier and why?
4. what special things would you suggest to make this trip extra "special"

any assistance would be greatly appreciated.....

I will send you an e-mail... Joe did some of those things a while ago... a long while ago...

#3. As far as a hotel... we LOVED the Disneyland Hotel. It had just been redone and we had a pool view. It was FANTASTIC. We didn't feel that Paradise Pier was anything over the top, but it was close to the Downtown area.

#4. Take along some Table 9 + 12 special friends!!! (hint) :rotfl2:

I think you should just come to Texas and party with us! Yeah!

The two times I have been before, I have stayed 5 days/4 nights, and felt I could experience it all, relax, and enjoy myself. We are going back for another 5 days before getting on the PC repo DCL trip just before this one.

To go to the San Diego zoo, you would have to rent a car, drive about 90 minutes south, and do the reverse at night. It's possible, but I wouldn't do it with only 5 days at the parks.

I love the Disneyland Hotel, and am going back in August. It's just so Disney, and the pool area is wonderful. I haven't stayed at PP.

Special things -- get priority seating at Blue Bayou and ask to wait for a table next to where the ships are passing by at the beginning of Pirates. Think about Fantasmic dessert seating ($59 pp) with reserved seats and a lovely dessert box with cheese, crackers, and desserts, as well as drinks served to your seat. Think about the Segway tour of California Adventure, which takes place before park opening and lets you zip around the empty park on a Segway (doing that in August!).

Hi:

My 2 cents worth. I really think you can see DL and DCA in about three days. 2 DL and 1 DCA. San Diego is about 2 hour drive south of DL, you can see the zoo in one day, BUT lots of walking, lots of it on hills.
Hotel is a tough call! DLH very Magical. PH has largest rooms of any Disney-Owned Hotel rooms in Anaheim. PH get a theme park view and if angle is right you can see Electrical Parade from your room, Disney even pipes in the Music for the EP on a TV Channel in your room!! Best viewing of DL Fireworks can be from pool deck of PH.
Special: Book a Fantasmic viewing Package at Guest Relations, (if it is showing when you are here, it is scheduled for refurbishment soon!) you get special seating and desert for the Fantasmic show, the California Fantasmic is MUCH BETTER than the WDW version! Book a meal at Blue Bayou Restaurant!!

Hope this helps!!

Fish Extender Gifts - This is a fun "game" that was started with the Westbound Panama Canal cruise. For those who want to give gifts, please use the roster for names and locations of people. Participation is voluntary and you are not required to give anything to get anything !!
~~~ What is a Fish Extender ~~~ Click Here.
Spreadsheet for easy FE Gift Giving - ulittletinker / Virginia - Will be made public for printing, work in progress..
Kellie we would like everybody to get something weather you can give to everyone is another story, but some people can and some people cant That is ok!
but there are people who would like to see everybody get a little something..
Hence there is no other list for giving that the roster,
Do not want to exclude anyone !
that is the original intent of the FE.
not to split off into some group just cause you have one!
even if you dont have a fe out, people may find gifts on there door!
If your cabin number is listed, IF you for some reason dont want anything then contact me and I will make sure you dont get anything.
even if you cabin number is listed on the roster!
Do what you can with what you have!
Please Dont worry Be happy!!!
it is ALL GOOD what ever you do!
If you can only do half that is ok!
No one is going to Freak out!
IT IS FUN PEOPLE, we did it this way on the original FE cruise the may 2005 Panama Canal crossing..
Trust me it just works!
:worship: :) ::yes:: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
Hope this helps.
Speaking of fish extenders...
Justg got mine from gradysmommy off ebay and I LOVE :love: it! I highly recommend her!!!!!
Now, Elaine, I'll answer #1 and #4.....
#1 I think 3-4 days is perfect for DLR.
#4 The Fantasmic dessert buffet is absolutely wonderful (the balcony seating). It is well worth the money once you see the insane crowds around Fantasmic time. We have done it twice and it is great.
Thanks everyone for all your DL suggestions.....I guess I will *rethink* my original 14 day plan...I guess I've been to WDW WAY TOO many times....maybe 10 days with a trip to the Zoo....and maybe a tour of LA...and maybe just some down time (like swimming in the pool which I never seem to do). I never thought of the Blue Bayou....that would be fun to see the people going on the Pirates ride from our table and isn't that where you can get a Monte Cristo (sp?) sandwich???? I think Segways are out...this would be Mom - :scared1: ...and I don't think I'd make the weight restriction on them as I'm a "pooh" size. Mom and I have done the Fantasmic dessert buffet back in 2005 when it was on the balcony...well worth the money...we had front row centre seats!!!!! I understand that they do it now on a patio area by the Haunted Mansion....and I just read tonight that they do priority seating with a dessert box for the Electric Light Parade (Mom's favourite)....Also back in 2005 we did the Walt in Walt's Footsteps Tour and the DL 50th Anniversary Tour (it was only Mom and I on the tour and we felt like VIP's!!!!).....I wondered if it would be worth it to do the "Welcome to DL Tour" or not....or to take the Walt in Walt's Footstep's again?????
I know... way too many questions...but there's nothing left for me to plan for this cruise.....our excursions are booked...and although I check everyday...still no Palo brunch :sad:
I love Disneyland, I think you could see everything in 5 days. I would go to the beach or catalina Island, or even Hollywood before I went to San Diego zoo, it is really just a zoo, Animal Kingdom is far better. I like both Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel. PP you have a great view of DCA and DLH depending on your room you can see DL and the fireworks. Dining choices are better at DLH. See if you can find anyone who has membership to go to club 33, that would be very special!
I just had to post what I just saw out our window a few minutes ago....
Georgie, you might be on to something there.:goodvibes
Disneyland Hotel. Neat place.
I have been to DL once and stayed at the hotel.
I thing that was about 25 years ago.:scared1:
I assume that the monorail still stops there.:confused3
But the trip was really nice. It will be a good time for ya.
Knotts Berry Farm is good too. Snoopy. And the fried chicken dinners.
Bob, yes I do have drywall to hang, got the whole basement wired for sound and ordered the Home theater, should be KEWL!!!!
Have a good day kiddies, Later
Did you consider wireless?
They have some great ones now.
When's the grand premier? Do we need invites or just drop in.:lmao:
I would suggest 3 days for the resort and maybe 2 for touring Southern Cali. If you buy a 3 day park hopper online right now they are giving you the Morning Madness for free, but at the same time you also get that if you stay at any Resort Hotel or a good neighbor hotel. I have never stayed at a Resort hotel since we live so close but have stayed at the Howard Johnson and have loved it. That being said I have seen all the rooms at the Disneyland Hotel. Some think they are small and they dont have a balcony to really sit on.
If you are wanting to cut down on price I really suggest the HOJO. It's walking distance and the rooms are huge and I can get you a discount lol. Otherwise check out AAA.
As for the San Diego Zoo it would be about 2-3 hours south of Disneyland. It's very nice and hilly but they also have a shuttle that takes you around the zoo which is very nice. Compared to the Wild Animal Park the Zoo has more shaded areas. It can for sure be seen in one day.
I would also suggest getting to the parks early one day. It's amazing how much you can get done between 8-10am. Grab fastpasses for Space and Indy and then go to Fantasyland. The waits will be the shortest all day in the morning.
They recently updated the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. I haven't been on it but heard it was great. Special moments would be try to ride int he Lily Belle. If you ask nicely and don't mind waiting they will seat you inside if they have enough staff. Say it's a special occasion.
I have a lot more tips. Like eating for cheap and special places most people overlook that I will post tonight. I have to make dinner!
i agree with day at sea - i'll be trying to unpack for too many - and pull 5year old out of the pool - so let's make it official - cabin tour is day at sea... more info to follow - but let me know if your willing to open up your room for a look-see!
Tasha
yes. That's why I said we could have the wine and cheese meet after and we would finish the cabin tours up at our room.
Love Paradise Pier! We have a theme park view before the PC cruise this year and can't wait! Love eating at the Vineyard Room, going to San Diego Zoo, Catalina Island, and Temecula!!
