Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

Georgie....having many people makes the job go so much faster....my SIL has been at our house Mon-Wed....we now have all the wet stuff out....I have never seen our crawlspace so clean in all my 40 years....I never knew there was an opening at the end to go from one side to the other!!!!!!

The insurance adjuster came by this afternoon and our contractor stopped by to meet with him. It is all looking good. Thank goodness...we also got a bonus...the insurance adjuster saw all that we had done to minimize the water damage and all the work we had done to clean up everything and they are going to waive our deductible...yippee!!!! Another bonus is that now that the insurance adjuster has been, the contractor is coming tomorrow with a truck to take away our ever growing mountain of damaged stuff.

Our contractor was telling us that they might be declaring our area a "disaster zone"....there are so many people with raw sewage in their homes....we were very, very lucky that we only got about 2-3 inches of "clean" water...I know that was my Dad looking down on my Mom and I....he knew we wouldn't have been able to handle that if we had raw sewage in the basement. Our contractor also told me that I was very lucky that I called when I did (less than an hour after the storm started)....they are just now getting to some people's homes (the storm was Sunday)....and we are almost completely dry!!!!!! We have also told our contractor that we are in no hurry for the renovations to be completed...he told us he appreciated that because there are so many homes that are far more damaged than ours...

Before my SIL left tonight we drove around the neighbourhood and can't believe the number of homes with dumpsters and piles of junk in the driveways...the City has relaxed our one bag garbage limit for 2 weeks so people can put out their damaged stuff...I think on Friday the garbage truck will be full after each street in my neighbourhood.

Since the contractor isn't coming until tomorrow afternoon to do the moisture reading, I am going to head into the office until noon...I can't believe I am actually excited about it....and the added bonus is that I won't be hearing the fans all morning!!!!!

Tracy....Mom and I are sending pixie dust and hugs to Bill....we hope he is able to come home soon. Please tell him we send our best wishes.

Happy MidWeek.

Our thoughts and prayers go north to Bill. Hang in there.:thumbsup2

Best wishes to the monsoon victims. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.

Last night, we got rain, rain, rain. But nothing like you all are reporting.
Very nice today. More rain for the weekend. (I hope not)

Take care everyone.
Later.

Thanks everyone. Bill is doing better but still has a weird heart rhythm so they are keeping him in the hospital to monitor it for a while. Hopefully he'll come home by the weekend, but the doctor was talking about who was covering for him on the weekend so it doesn't look good.

So glad Bill is doing better. Please know we are thinking of both of you and hopefully Bill will be home soon. Barbara

Elaine - good deal on the insurance and bonus! Hope that not too much of the damaged goods were irreplacable.

Tracy and Bill - more pixiedust: and :grouphug: for you. Take care both of you - you are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Have a great day all!

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust yesterday. It was a very long day but Bill came through the surgery feeling 500% better. Haven't talked to him this morning, but hopefully we are on our way to a speedy recovery.

Thanks you tracy for posting this...... Now I can take a breath

Yeah!!!!!!!

TIme to get Bill walking and we will see him on the Disney endurance circuit.

Tracy...glad to hear that Bill is doing better.

Mom and I appear to be completely dried out. The contractor came and took our the fans and dehumidifiers yesterday. Mom and I are enjoying the quiet. It looks like our moisture tests will have to wait until we return from WDW. Yesterday we found out that the majority of our street was affected and it appears that Mom and I were the least affected. The City still hasn't declared our area a "disaster" but there are many people that are unable to live in their homes due to the sewage back up.

Georgie, hope you are Joe are doing okay....and getting dried out.

We leave tomorrow for Mom's birthday trip to WDW....boy do we need this vacation.

Tracy,

Glad to hear that Bill is doing well. :thumbsup2

We went through that with Dale's Mom last winter so know how stressful it can be. It is amazing what the medico's can do today.

Pixie Dust your way for a speedy, complication free recovery.

Bob & Dale (and Gordy too)

Tracy, Thanks for posting about Bill! We are so glad he is doing better! I saw your entry on Facebook, but then haven't been back to see if there were any updates. You must be exhausted! He was in our thoughts and prayers as soon as I saw he was going into surgery. :cloud9:
E+M Safe Travels. Enjoy that special dinner on Tuesday.

On our Home Front: Things have dried out. :goodvibes We continue to empty out both dehumidifiers 2 times a day. The fans continue to run. THis past week we noticed the air conditioner in our addition just seemed to be blowing regular air... not cooled. We called out the service guy who came out yesterday to take a look. After just a fwe minutes, he dropped a bomshell... our compressor was blown out by the power surge last Sunday during the storm. :scared1: Needless to say, we will be re-calling our home insurance adjuster to see if this will be covered. :wizard:
