speaking of the Instant Pot......

P
well.... I got it and tried it..... been a couple of days, and I need to find some recipe ideas to try... my first try was pork loin, and it was too dry, b/c I thought it needed 60 mins, but the lighter meat roast only needs about 15:bitelip: sooo.... tried again with a 5 pound pot roast at 30 minutes....it was pretty good, the potatoes and carrots were great, but a question- how do i get the meat to fall apart, like it's been in a crockpot for 8-10 hours? Am I cooking too long,or too short for that? I do like the one pot and done aspect of all this, including browning the meat first-

You aren't cooking long enough for fall apart roast. -Google to be sure but I'd do at least 55 for pot roast. I have done pork loin in mine and it's been yummy but has needed sauce-it's a very dry cut of meat. Next time, perhaps cut the loin into chops and go from there. My best suggestion is to find tried and tried IP recipes with lots of reviews to start-don't try and wing it as it's a very different way of cooking.

Depends on the size, but I cooked my pork shoulder 90 minutes to make pulled pork, so I think you might be undercooking it. I wouldn't use pork loin for something like that, as it's a lean/dry cut of meat.

I'm still confused by meat cooking in this thing...... I was told by a friend I overcooked the pork,so it was dry, but the beef was ok,just ot shreddable, and it was undercooked? (it was totally done to eat )

When I do pork loin for carnitas, I do 3 pounds, cut into chunks, for 35 minutes. Shreds beautifully. When I do eye of round for french dip sandwiches, I cook the beef 100 minutes. These are both leaner cuts of meat than the recipes call for, and they both turn out fine -- you have to cook longer, not shorter, in the IP to get that falling-apart texture.

Cook fatty meats that you want to shred or have falling apart for longer-like pot roast. Lean meats should not be cooked that long-, unless you cut up and cook in lots of liquid.

I bought the 10qu after having a six and I love it and wish I would have had one when the kids where little with all the sports they did. We can cook a whole chicken in it. We have the pressure cooker xl. The first one we had was off of qvc and it lasted 6 months maybe.
