Speaking of luggage delivery...

In all of the trips that I have made to WDW, I have never had my luggage waiting in my room. The only time that the luggage was delivered to my room was if our room happened to be ready immediately and it was delivered as we were driven to our room (Poly). Usually our room isn't ready so we check in and go play until it's ready. I have to call for my luggage each time. I was told by bell services that they will not deliver luggage to a room unless they know that you are in your room for liability issues.

I'm reading all of these posts that say "when we came back to our room our luggage was waiting for us". What do I need to do to get this benefit?

Thanks

If you are using DME then you can't expect your luggage to beat you to your room. The luggage truck has to make many more stops and then off-load all that luggage at each resort it goes to. Then Bell Services has to get it sent to the appropriate room. That is going to take longer than it takes you to get from the airport and get checked in. Unless you don't get a room right away. When we were at BCV in June, we checked in at 1:10, got our villa at 2:30 (very early for DVC to have a room ready!!!) and our luggage was brought to our room at 2:55. I don't think that's such a long wait. Now, if you aren't using DME and have just arrived via a towncar or rental and you have checked in and had to leave your luggage with Bell Services while they ready a room for you (and you go off to a park) then they will not bring your luggage to the room until you are actually in it. Then you will have to either call them or go down to their desk. Just another perk of DME!!!

I understand how DME works they just held ours in the baggage hold until we returned to our room, which ended up being a good thing because bell services didn't deliver all of our luggage when I called they had left out a piece. I'm just amazed on how everyone gets their luggage delivered to their room without calling for it.

kelcross,

I'm amazed that you didn't have yours delivered to your room. That's what DME is about, never seeing your luggage from the time you check it at the airport to the time it shows up at your room. You are the first person that I have heard that had to call for their luggage. How would you even know that your luggage had arrived at the resort to know to call for it? Are you sure you haven't been staying at the Hollywood Hotel?

How long did it take you to return to your room? Is it possible that you jumped the gun and called for it to be delivered before they were otherwise ready to deliver it? What I mean is, for better or worse I'm sure that when the DME bags come in from MCO they're not distributed THAT MINUTE. I mean, did you call for it an hour or three after you checked in, or like 8 hours after you checked in? If it was between 1 - 3 hours, chances are it WOULD have been automatically delivered even if you didn't call, KWIM?
