Speaking of dumb comments....

My theory for some calling MK as Disneyworld: We old timers grew up with only Disneyland. When we once hit MK, it is similar to Disneyland thus Magic Kingdom is DisneyWorld to us. I still have to catch myself sometime.

Now for dumb comments, I was crossing the bridge to Universal Studios Orlando amd one of those boats went under the bridge. These boats transport people from the Universal onsite hotels to Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios. A man said to his family "Look those are the boats that can take us over to Disneyworld after we leave Universal."

Walt Disney World is not a state. It's a world. D'uh! :jester:

Ali
Well, it is a state - of mind!

I know a lot of people who refer to Magic Kingdom as Disney World, even though they have been. :earseek:

I had a co-worker once swear up and down to me that there was no possible way to get from Epcot to MGM by boat.....she was so insitant that I was doubting my own memory. But I knew we had once taken a boat from Epcot to MGM!

Now we often stay at the Boardwalk and every time I ride the boat I have to laugh about there being "no water between Epcot and MGM".

I have to admit...calling the Magic Kingdom "Disney World" drives me nuts! Disney World is the whole resort...4 major parks, 2 water parks, Downtown Disney, golf, hotels, roads, etc....

I once had a girl in my middle school tell me that the Back to the Future ride was in WDW. When I told her it wasn't, she had this whole fit about how I didn't know what I was talking about because I had never been there before. Well, she got a smack in the face when I told her that I had indeed been there, 10 times! And being the freak that I am, I pulled out my Unofficial guide that I had been reading that day and SHOWED her because I was convinced that she still didn't believe me.

When i was stationed in Tampa I was able to see Thunder Mountain Being built. I saw the pillars for the monorail for epcot without the rail, and my friend helped install all the computer systems in the park. His company gave us free coupons for the rides.

I think when you only think about boys and malls its a little hard to understand the concept of WDW.

Last week on the monorail we heard a lady say that today they would go to Disneyworld and tomorrow they would see Epcot..I think it is still kinda a common thing to say, incorrect but common..... :flower1:
