SPB vs WP in December?

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I have been dead set on getting married in Disney World since the day we got engaged and picked early December 2007 as our date. We were planning on doing an Intimate (or "Escape").

Initially, I think we just assumed that WP would be the location since it was the only indoor choice. I love knowing that when I go there in the future and I'm on the monorail between Epcot & MK I can point out the window and see where we got married.

It just seems TOO BIG for a small wedding, though. I went to an 8-guest wedding there once, and while it was incredible I definitely noticed it seemed kind of strange to have this huge chaple be so empty. Has anyone else felt this way?

I have recently fallen in love with the pictures here of SPB...but I am still so worried about it being too cold right on the water in December (especially w/just being in a wedding dress...I get cold VERY easily). Does anyone have any idea what to expect for weather/temperatures in early December? What would be the best time of day? Does it get decorated at all for an Escape/Intimate wedding or would it be bare?

Thanks for all of your help........we are so torn!!

Usually the temps are between 55 and 75 in December. I went there for Christmas one year and was going to the waterparks without being cold. Personally I think if it's an afternoon wedding it will be close to 80.... morning will be cool, as will dark evening but cool, not cold. Especially in your dress and he in his tux you should be quite comfortable IMO

Welcome!! I got married at SBP in November and my good friend Diane (Happylalagirl) got married there in December. Im bias and love SBP!! Others love the WP-- its all about personal preference!

I got married dec 4 at YCG & it was fine.
The weather is really unpredictable that time of year.
It was hot the 1st 4 days & then after that it was around the 50s.
It did drizzle the day of our wedding, but that didnt stop our ceremony.
We made the best of it & got some neat shots.
I was fine the day of the wedding cause my dress had sleeves, so i wasnt cold or hot.
If your concerned, maybe plan for a wrap or cute wedding jacket if your dress is sleeveless...but i think you should be fine

FYI my friend went for xmas this year & it was in the 80s..so you never know;)

happy planning

I was really concerned with this at first as well. I talked to my WC about it because I was torn between sunset pointe and the WP. I had that -- "oh my could you imagine getting married there" moment when on the monorail when I was 16, but like you, with only 9 guests I was afraid I'd feel like it was empty. My WC assured me that I should go with it, because it's beautiful, and because it was safer as an indoor location.

I'm really glad I chose the WP. Yes, it cost more. Yes, it was big. But it didn't feel empty. It was beautiful and I loved looking out at the castle while marrying DH. I also loved Commander's Terrace, which was beautiful and the perfect size for an intimate wedding.

I hope that this helps!

If you do choose SBP and it is cold, you could wear a beatiful wedding shawl. I have seen some pictures of brides with them on and they look so elegant. I almost wish I could wear one. Something tells me I won't be needing it at SBP in the end of June :rotfl:

Happy planning :)
