Has anyone here signed up for this free service? I'm just curious what your experience has been--it seems too good to be true. TIA :sunny:

I signed up I haven't used it to much yet but so what I have used it for has been great.

www.sparkpeople.com is a site that you have to join (it's free) and you can log your food and activity. It will give you hints and tricks and tips on different health issues. I get an e-mail a day from them (because I chose that option) about different things to look out for. I still use my fitday.com account but I might start using this one more in the future.

I just went and signed up and already I really like it. Just don't hit the back button because you have to start from the beginning (I learned that after about 10 minutes of frustration). It appears to be very good. I really didn't like fitday so I quit using it. This one seems much easier for some reason.

LOVING Spark people. Ive been there for 3 weeks and it has been wonderful for me!!

I love sparkpeople. I have been there for 18 days and it is fun to track food, and workout.

Even seeing how many sparkpoints I can get a day is great.

I have a journal there too. Look for me I am savin4disney.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sparkpeople. I lost 7 lbs just this month. It is so easy. You type in what you eat and it calculates calories, fat, carbs and protein. I wore a size 10 jeans today - have not done that in over a decade.

Please give it a try. It's great and it's free. Not too good to be true :cool1:

I love Sparkpeople too! I have gotten my husband to start keeping track of his stuff too. I love getting the points. I am not sure what the real "purpose" of the points is- can you get prizes with them? But, I sure love earning them. I have been on for about 3 weeks now, and while I haven't lost much yet ( a couple pounds), I am really being more concious of what I eat.

I am doing the Spark People program. Since the first of January, I have lost 7 pounds. I still can't believe it's free; it's really that great. It really comes in handy if you know you're going to be dining out somewhere, because you can look up the nutritional info beforehand for lots of different chain restaurants, then make a healthier choice at the restaurant.

I used to have a membership when there was a fee and just signed up for free. :thumbsup2 They said they will give 1,000,000 free memberships this year and I am just hoping it will remain free.

I love it!

I've been sparking since Friday and have loved everything I've used on the site, except that I'm becoming addicted to it... I go on and off with posting here because I get into it then vanish for a break then come back. Am afraid I'll do that on SparkPeople as well. I guess I need to add a goal to my list that limits the time I spend on the site :confused3
Anyhow, I'm excited to be tracking my food and getting the motivation/incentive to stick to a healthy food and exercise plan. I really think that SparkPeople will help me get back on track so I can up the number in my signature. :cool1: I would recommend it to anyone to help them keep on track with any healthy goal. (I track water, food, nutrition, exercise, sleep, logging in for support) It is free and I haven't found any catches, so give it a try. I give it many :thumbsup2
So should we start a WISH community team on SparkPeople or a Spark members unite thread here...

I have been using sparkpeople for 2 weeks and have found that my weight loss is right on target to meet the goal I set. As long as I stay within the calorie limits they set, meet the nutritional guidelines, and burn the number of calories they recommend, I am seeing the loss that is required to get to my goal by my set deadline.
I have even referred some friends and they are loving it, too! I really like the feature of adding my favorite foods and my favorite food groupings, as well as adding in foods that aren't already in their directory. That way, I only ever have to add nutritional data once if at all. One little trick -- since I am not worried about meeting the daily vitamin requirements, when I enter new foods, I only enter serving size, calories, fats, carbs, proteins and sodium. That is enough information to give me the feedback I need on a healthy balance.
If you want to look for my sparkpage, I use my same username there.

I joined 2-3 wks ago. I really like it. When I spun for my points yesterday it said I won a free sparks t-shirt. It let me pick a size and I'm supposed to get it in 3-4 wks. It gave me the three points besides. Yeah.

I'm jealous. I joined 14 months ago and have never gotten a shirt. My sister joined for a week and got one. She said it was red. Lucky you!

OK

Yall talked me into it. I've just signed up and i'm going to see how it works out. Honestly I've been looking for something like this. Hopefully, it'll help me look great for my cruise.

I've used fitday but not in a while. This does sound like a dream that it is offered for free. I may have to find time to check it. Probably by then they will be charging a fee.

Its great when I journal I do extremely well. I just get busy and caught up.

Its pretty easy to follow. You just look up in a database and find the food you ate and it calculates calories. You set up a fitness plan and input your weight and goal weight and it tells you the calorie range that is suitable for attaining that goal.

I totally recommend it. :) They also have communities and teams and pages to make(optional) like myspace. I recently found one of their sister sites babyfit.com for postpartum, pregnancy and preconception dieting. :) I'm thinking of switching over to it but haven't gotten it to let me set up eating and fitness plans probably because I'm not pregnant already.
