Hi,

Tell me everything!!! Good & bad! Never been & all I know is that's it's @ World Showcase. Help!

sparked by my Fall thread:Tell me about F&W

You're asking for a TON of info.....

Basically, if you're not paying for any of the special events, you will find 25-30 "tents" set up around the WS that host tasty offerings (sample size) from nations not represented around WD for you to try at 1 -5 bucks a pop...and lots of wine/beer offerings too.

If you've never tried the F&W fest--and if you're a "foodie"--you can't go wrong. :)

It really takes 3 visits to get to all the huts...esp. if you are trying the drinks too! So, you have to set your pace so you don't flame out. We went early before a business trip the first time. Planned our strategy to not flame out. Working around World Showcase like food snobs -- skipping this and that.

And, then, some nice cast member appeared out of nowhere and say to our group: "Right this way." And we are suddenly sitting in front of 6 full glasses of beer. Each of us. At 11:30 a.m. And we realize we have a boring meeting to attend at 5 p.m. over at the Dolphin (conference). Looks are exchanged among our friends, who will also be "participating" in that meeting, and we all simultaneously snicker. This is gonna be a good conference session. And, one of us decided to yell out, "I love Disneyworld." And we all agree! So did the rest of the folks enjoying the beer tasting! :thewave:

In addition to the booths where you can purchase samples of food, they offer FREE Wine Tasting seminars at several venues and Culinary Demonstrations where you get a small sample of the recipe they demo. There are also several places in WS where they offer free Beer or Wine tastings several times each day. At the American Pavilion Sam Adams Beer is offered at special tastings at least 1/2 dozen times each day. The Australian Area they have set up for the past 2 years Offers multiple free wine tastings each day, last year they added cooking demos but you couldn't sample the food. They also do a Wine Walkabout in the Australian area that you pay $5-6 to sample a fixed number of wines. We opted for the Free tastings but there were some other wines offered for the Walkabout that they don't offer at the free tastings. They is a guide that you pick up at the turnstile when you enter the Park that lists everything that is going on, where & when. Of course there are also many other additional things that you pay for. Go to the Dis home & check out the F & W festival listings for more details.

I think you really have to be a drinker to enjoy this as much as some folks do. We don't drink, so the little sample food things were about all we partook of for F&W. While they were interesting and very good, it didn't seem all that special to me. Now I was wishing I would have done some of the chef school things! I didn't find out about them in time.
