Spare some prayers, please, for my neice. (long)

Some of you probably remember my post about my brother and his child support issues. (an update on that is, the problem was with one of his kids' arrears payments---he ended up being able to reduce those without contest from his ex-wife, and he is also now working a second job).

Anyway, a much more distressing situation has now arisen. He got a subpoena in the mail yesterday. It seems that CPS is trying to remove his ex-wife's children from her custody, including one of my neices. Apparently, the conditions they have been living in are appalling---no hot water, trash throughout the house, terrible cockroach infestation.

My brother and my parents had no clue that she was living like this. Unfortunatley, my brother was not involved in her life as he should have been. Now, my parents would take my neice overnight about 3x a year, and talk to her on the phone about once a week, but her mother always brought her to my parent's house......they never went there. And my neice never said things were like that.

My parents obviously don't want their granddaughter going into foster care, but at the same time, they really don't feel they can take care of her right now (she has some behavior issues for one thing, which after hearing about her living conditions is understandable).

My brother is not in any position to take custody of her due to the fact he is living in my parent's home right now and working two jobs.

So, anyway, spare some prayers please as, right now, noone really knows what's going to happen. These kids (there are 3 other kids other than my neice involved).

How very sad and prayers offered for a positive outcome. Don't you know of some friends, relatives or perhaps church members who could help out?

Unfortunately many GP's have to step up to the plate now. I have a friend (63yo), whose daughter is a loser in all senses, has recently taken custody of her 12 yo GD. It's not what she really wanted at this period of her life, but she couldn't stand by and let her GD go to foster care. Just breaks your heart that these type of people bring these precious children in the world, then have no clue about responsibility. Then, there are others who would spend a lifetime and give anything just to have to have a child to love.
