Spare change!!!

I save change but in a little ceramic cat my daughter made, and it only adds up to $30 when full. What do you all use to save your change/bills so that you can't take any out. Or are there some fun big ones out there?

My in-laws have some sort of miniature whiskey barrel and the top will need to be sawed off to get to the change. They've had it since DH was a kid. All I know is it weighs a ton, so I can only imagine how much is in there!

Well, after about 14 or 15 years DH & I had saved approximately $6,000 in change, so you can probably get an estimate if they have been saving since your DH ws a kid.

I'm a change saver too!

I use a little wooden bank shaped like a house that I made in wood shop in, oh, geez, 6th grade I think. It holds about $200 when it's full.

I save coins and bills. All my change goes right into the house. I usually also count out to round numbers with the bills- if I have $23 in my wallet, the $3 goes in the house.

My checkcard account has a neat feature- it rounds up all debit transactions to the nearest dollar and automatically deposits the change in my savings account. It's pretty cool, so I still get to save up my change even when I use plastic. :)

I emptied the house in September for our trip, and just cracked into it again for Christmas money- I had about $140 in coins and bills this time.

Yesterday I took my piggie bank to the coin machine at the bank and deposited $199- just 4 months of saving change. I bought one 4-day pass for my daughter for my trip w/ my kids coming up in May. It's so nice to have that one purchased!

That's great! And it feels good knowing you didn't dig into the checkbook for it :)

I'm a change saver as well! I always use notes or £1 coins for every thing then at the end of the day I shake down my purse and put the change in my jar. I've been doing it for the last month to save up for Disney spending money so far I've got just over $50. Once I've got enough to buy $100 worth of TC's I'll be hot footing it down to my bank to buy some. Another thing I've been doing is some of my bills are say for 7 months of the year so I've carried on "paying" them straight into my savings account, every penny help's and it'll all be worth it when my DD finally gets to see MK come May!

also a change saver. Our bank likes the change rooled. My DH has a machine that sorts the coins into tubes that hold coin holders. once a week I empty the change out of my purse and DD gets to put the money in the bank. she loves it. WE have aprox. 120 unsure how long we have been doing this.
I get the strange looks from my co-workers because I am always taking their empty soda cans. We recycle these and that money goes to our Disney account.

I've been saving in an old water jug since we got back from our trip in Sept. I don't know how much is in there but because it is such a big container it looks like nothing. I won't even attempt to look at it until June. DH tells me not to let it get to full or I won't be able to move it if I do...LOL.

If its an old glass water jug be careful! My cousin saved change in his and when he lifted it, the bottom broke away and he almost lost his foot!!!

Great ideas everybody. We started saving about 6 weeks ago and have about 130.00 in change. Our trip is at the end of May and I hope to have 300-400 dollars.
