They are visible on the front page, since they are the newest posts in several lesser-used forums. I have to wonder why they are allowed to remain on the board for so long.

You're kidding right? From what I understand, the folks who are the forum leaders are volunteers giving their time to try to keep things on the up and up around here. Do you really think they have nothing else to do but to monitor the site? They work, shop, have families, etc. Instead of posting something like this post, why not hit an alert and let someone know that there is a problem instead of trying to make those volunteers feel like cr@p! *wow*

You can report a post by clicking on the triangle on the bottom left in every post. It will go to the moderators.

Yes the mods are volunteers and we do have lives. Sometimes the spam remains for a few hours but it does get taken care of. Feel free to report it to a mod.

Cause Mods have to go Christmas shopping too! :santa:

What do you mean by spam? The advertisment for the package that has disappeared since I decided to ask this question? It seems to be the second posting on EVERY post I go to read. I just thought that was paid advertising?

Those who come to the board as visitors, without creating a username, or users who just don't log on for that session, will see some paid advertisements.

Once someone creates a username and logs on under that name they will not see the paid advertisements. Of course, a person must be logged on in order to make a reply to a posting.

In the case of true spam, some spammers will create a username and hit the boards very quickly with their spam all over the place. It may take awhile before that person's account is restricted, and also it definitely takes the moderators awhile to delete these posts, especially finding ones that are never reported.

The quickest way to help us get rid of spam is to use the "report a post" feature. As mentioned, just click the
report.gif
icon that appears at the bottom of the username's frame which is adjacent to every post they make. Note that reporting a post only goes to the moderators of that particular board, along with some webmasters. If you find the same spam on a different board, which may or may not have different moderators, be sure to report it again, otherwise no one may realize a 2nd spam posts exists on that other board.

Thanks

Are you doing your part to help by reporting them?
I would say they do a pretty bang up job on taking care of them.
I've seen sites where they really dont care if there's spam or not, not fun.

I must say that I very rarely come across spam on these boards. I think the mods are pretty good about getting rid of it ASAP. I didn't see the spam that you were refering to so it couldn't have been there for too long.
