We saw a ad on tv last night they were putting cream cheese in the sauce? Has anyone ever done this before and was it good?

I've seen it done before, it changes the sauce to a crema rosa, or almost a tomato alfredo.
It's okay, I prefer other recipes for those two sauces, but it's a quick and easy change.

My grandmother used to do this when making lasagna instead of using ricotta. I made it once and now my family insists on having Nana's lasagna instead of the kind with ricotta and fresh homemade sauce. :confused3

Yes, I know it sounds weird but it's quite tasty.

It's very yummy! No, it doesn't make it sweet at all, it's a cheese, not sugar.

I add this or sour cream to my sauces. I love the creamier texture. No sweetness...it's cream cheese...which is savory...

I have done cream cheese and ricotta cheese for sauces. It makes them creamier. I prefer ricotta over cream cheese though.

You gotta ask? Isn't adding cream cheese to ANYTHING a good idea???;)
