Spaceship Earth Projections

During the July 4 celebrations at Epcot, a new projection system was on show. Spaceship Earth was lit with dramatic images of American photography. It isn't clear if it will be a permanent addition, or just used on special occasions.

Anyone know if these projections are a permament fixture at EPCOT?

They were beautiful!!!!! I got some really great photos of the projections on Spaceship Earth. I haven't heard what their plans are regarding this.

They used to do cool ones on there...and Figment was on the Imagination building....I still miss seeing him there walking out after Illluminations...I hope that's permanent! Sounds awesome!

I think the wdwmagic.com report has a bit of misinformation about the projection system. It was used at least one other time--last fall for the Mission Space press event. Somewhere I have a photo of SE with the MS logo projected on the side. Very impressive. If I can dig up the image later, I'll add it to the post.

That said, I don't recall it being used at other peak holiday seasons (Christmas, New Years, etc.) since the press event. So I guess this is one of those "stay tuned" situations.

The pictures of the projections on www.wdwmagic.com look beautiful. I can't imagine that they'd just add American pictures to Illuminations since it has such a global theme, but maybe they will find some way to use this projection system regularly during the show .
