Space Shuttle launch and viewing

I have been waiting for there to be a shuttle launch while at disney and it looks like it might finally happen. We will be there starting the 5th, launch date might be the 6, 7 or 8th?

So anyone have any tips for viewing the launch or any pictures? I have done some research and it sounds like the best place to watch is from Jetty park in Cape Canaveral, anyone been there? Can you see the launch pad from there? Any pics would be great? Anywhere else a good spot, and how is the traffic during launch days, should we get there early?

If by chance we can't make it out to the coast, anyone have any experience with shuttle launches in the parks? I know it is far away but I believe you can see it once it has been launched and heading to space, again any pictures would be great. Thanks.

Jetty Park is a good place, however, it gets packed and it's normally filled and closed early in the morning.

Any of the beaches in that area are a good place. Again, it can get crowded so you have to get there early. I wish I had more specific information but I can watch the launches from work or home.

I believe that was towncrier who posted it. There was a thread about this in the last week or so. It had the link he posted in that thread.

It was taken standing just outside the front doors of the American Pavillion looking in the sky towards the right (in the direction of China).

I saw the shuttle launch aboard the Norwegian Spirit when we were docked at Port Canaverl on the 4th of July. I'd catch it if you can; it's an amazing sight!
