Space Saver Bags?

Has anyone here used them? How wrinkly do your clothes get in them? The weather next week is looking so varied, I may have to pack a little more than usual. I'd love to shrink down the volume, but not at the expense of having to iron everything either.

My DH used some like these to go to Europe last summer and said they worked great. I have not noticed much in the way of wrinkles. You could always throw in some Downy wrinkle remover just in case there are some light ones. Also, we got the bags at Target that you roll and squeeze the air out instead of vacuuming out the air. They work great and we didn't have to find a vacuum when we were packing to go home. Just an idea.

Have a great trip! We love to go this time of year and the weather can be very fickle. We usually have to take clothing for both warm and cold weather.

I don't know if these will work or not: Ziploc now has some XL storage bags that can be used for anything from toys to clothes. I saw the commercial and then found some at Walmart. I'm thinking of packing in them next week myself. You could easily just press the air out.

I just got back a month ago. I had some space saver bags but didn't end up using them. Did a 'test pack' a few days before leaving -- once with space saver bags, once using the "rolling" method. I found that the rolling method actually worked better for me! I was very surprised - I thought I would love space bags! I think that, for me, they'd work if you were going to pack really "puffy" things like a down jacket or pillow, which could compress down with a space bag. But rolling my items (especially t-shirts and other knit things) worked great.

i bought some of these from QVC and love them. Using them for a vacation, your clothes won't get very wrinkled, as you probably pack a few days before leaving. I have used them to store my off season clothes, and they do get wrinkled after bg all packed together for 4 months or so. I have the space saver bags - no vacume needed. Two thumbs up!

I did get the American Tourister ones that don't require a vacuum - just pack, seal & roll out the air.


As far as the Ziploc ones - I bought the 2.5 gallon ones - the zippers break after one or two zips. I also have the XL & the XXL ones, but they are just WAY too big.

I think I'll use them for the things that don't wrinkle easy, yet take up bigger space (sweatshirts, jammies etc) Then I'll pack my nice clothes on top. I just need a tiny bit more space, so not everything needs to be condensed - just big stuff.

I have this kind and I use them off and on. The bags themselves are pretty sturdy and I have had them for a couple of years and they still seal. The clothes do not come out too wrinkled, but I also don't own extra-wrinkly clothes. I can't get a LOT of clothes into them. If you overstuff them, they will not zipper and seal. I like to use them to segregate my clothes from my DD's clothes. While living out of a suitcase, it's easier to dig into the bag for a shirt v/s digging through a pile of clothes. I also use Eagle Creek pack-it cubes for things like underwear and socks. I can stuff those to the limit and still zipper them up.

I have been using "packing cubes" for the past couple trips. I love them! The reason I used quotes on that - I use the zippered bags that my linens came in. I have them in all different sizes from sheets sets, mattress pads, comforters etc. They're perfect for packing. It makes it so much easier to pack & unpack. Especially when we are switching resorts mid-trip.

We used these bags (the kind you squish the air out of) during our trip last month. We actually found them most useful when we were packing to come home and realized how much room our souveniers were taking up! Our clothes were a little wrinkled afterwards, but it didn't matter for the trip home. I really recommend them.

One word of caution though, by using these you can pack to much and be over weight for the airlines. This happened to us last time and good thing I always pack an extra dufful to use on the way home so we could just move some stuff over to that instead of paying the over weight fee. ug:

I use them or use to but now don't because with the flight weight only being 50lbs. you end up going over the weight.
I use to do a pillow and then all my cloths in another .
