Hi

When we go to US in april we are going to get a pass to MK. When we went two years ago I went on splash mountain and hated the huge drop. But I was wondering what Space mountain was like compared with splash mountain? ( as you can tell I am not brave when it comes to rides!)

Space Mountain is a full roller coaster, inside in the dark. If you've been to a UK theme park, and seen a typical smallish rollercoaster (They have a name which escapes me), it's a fairly standard rollercoaster, but because it's in the dark the experience is a bit more intense.

(OK, I confess, I haven't been on - But I've seen it in on the TTC when teh lights were up, and it looked just like a normal rollercoaster that they would have over here)

I think if you didn't like Splash Mountain, then I would probably avoid all 3 Mountains, as Splash is probably the 'easiest' of the 3.
I wouldn't worry about it though, there are plenty of other things to do in MK even if you don't like the thrill rides.

....... whilst Splash is a log flume with a big drop, as Bev says, Space Mountain is a roller coaster in the dark, so they are quite different.
The inside of Space Mountain is much lighter than it used to be - you can make out the track, which most full on coaster fans don't like, ( I like it as normally dark coasters give me motion sickness but Space Mountain doesn't).
However, Splash Mountain is one of my fave rides whereas for me, Space Mountain isn't a must do.
Did you ride Big Thunder Mountain when you were there?

Hi

Thanks for your replys. I did go on BTM and loved it. On splash mountain it ws the height and steepness of the drop at the end.

Any more comments?

If you loved BTM I'd say you'd also enjoy Space Mountain. There is no steep drop like on Splash - in fact it is a very similar ride to BTM apart from its in the dark. Its not that dark either - I get a bit claustrophic in the pitch dark but Space M is plenty light enough to see the track and people in front of you. Its a great coaster ride.

I HATE Splash Mountain! Yup...and all because of that drop at the end. Vertical drop=baaaaad in my book. I can ride Space Mountain till it comes out of my ears though. It's exactly the same sort of thing as Big Thunder, with no big drops, just a bunch of small ones, though being in the dark, they can catch you out sometimes :) However, like Shirley and Angela says, it's not pitch black dark as it used to be and you can dimly see what's coming just before you 'hit' it.
