I will be using a wheelchair mostly at WDW when we go next month but for transferring to rides and such I will use my cane, which is a cute mickey one by the way, anyways... Can I take my cane on space mountain or is there no room in the car? We go to WDW all the time and have since I was a kid but for the past 6 years I have been pregnant when we have gone and not been able to go on it and I honestly can't remember what the car is like. Thanks

I'm afraid I've not tried riding it with a cane (or, in fact, since I was about 8!), so can't tell you for sure, but that does look a bit too cramped. You should be able to take the wheelchair as close to the vehicle as you want, and a CM can put your cane with the chair for you when you return. They should be able to bring it back to you, but sometimes they get very busy, and miss you coming in. If this happens, either someone else in your party can get it for you, or you can wait for a CM to become available to help you - they won't send you off for a second time by accident!

When I was able to ride them (before the arthritis spread to my neck, LOL) I used a collapsible cane at Disney and just broke it down and put it kind of between and under my legs and it worked fine on all the mountains. Hope that helps!

If not, it should be fine in your wheelchair, I've never had mine disturbed while leaving it in my ECV. Just get your DH to give you a strong arm out, and getting back to the WC.

CAVEAT - haven't seen the new Space Mountain configuration yet, so I might be totally wrong! I'll let you know next week.

I guess maybe I should reconsider taking my custom mickey mouse cane, it might attract more people to wanting it. I like the idea of the folding one

I don't recommend the Carex folding canes with the soft grey handles. The cushion part falls apart in no time at all. I am on my second one in less than one year and this second one I have only had about 1 month and the handle is falling apart already. Just wanted to put that out as an FYI.

I also am not using my cane everyday for all waking hours only for when I need to walk long distances. Just a real bad design for the handle.

Mine has a solid wood handle with enamel paint on it - I know cause after about 6 years, the paint is wearing off. Don't remember the brand, but it breaks down into about 5 sections. Mine is solid black. Boring as can be, until my youngest got into it with stickers when she was about 5.

Last weekend at the F&W, DH got me one of those carved canes at the Africa hut - a Zebra! Believe it or not, it was the exact perfect height for me, and the way the hoof is carved at the bottom gives a little more stability than the bottom of my cane, but not as much as a quad (which I'll do about anything to put off as long as possible). The handle is very comfortable (but admittedly is the weakest link) and its turning into much more of a favorite than I ever thought it would be - I'm actually using it, and it is very functional! Who would have dreamed?
