Space Mountain Renovation?

i have heard rumors of Space Mountain being renovated for like a year. anyone know anything more to it or when or if its going to be happening?

I believe there are plans to change it to make it more like the DLR one, but i'm unsure on that.

I think it starts sometime next year, and will last for about 18 months.

i haven't heard that...but if they do it will probably be like DLR space mountain. Just closed for less time probably...

I remember when they renovated the one at DLR, my "home" park. I like it alot, the only downside is there are no real drops, its all just turns and abrupt stops. But its awesome nevertheless!

Ooh, if they change it to the DLR one it would be awesome. The DLR one doesn't have a lot of drops, it's just a lot of turns.

I'm not really sure, but I've never been on it and I'm going back to WDW in March. I was kind of hoping to go on it; I doubt I will.

I like the drops in it.
I think all I really would wnat changed is the smoothness of the ride. My parents refuse to ride because it's so jerky and it hurts their backs.

I read a thread on the Rumors and News board that says they are. But then again, that's a rumor. But it makes sense, because the DLR version is way better than the WDW one, and I bet they would want to make them equally good. Although the renovation time seems like it would be long, which stinks. Here's the thread:

Honestly, I hope they do renovate it - it seems to really need it!

Until any official news comes out, however, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe it's just mechanical renovations or maybe it's getting an entire face-life, lol, we won't know till we hear official word.

Well for now on the WDW site, it doesn't mention Space Mountain as having an operational update up to May, which is the last month being shown at the moment.

It's a two seater. It has more abrupt turns and stops than dips. The handicapped train slides into place. They whole platform moves over so the train can switch onto the track.

Yeah I thought that was pretty awesome.
Also DLR has a really cool soundtrack, but the only downside is the 'no drops' thing.
So I'm torn, I like it both ways!

Closes from April 19th, and will reopen around November 21st.

TTA is also closed from April 19th to August 19th.
