Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

It's not a ghost like Casper, it's a space ghost. He's made out of red glowy plasma/gas that some have said looks like blood, so I guess it could be scary. We love the overlay more than the regular SM. They just do a good job with the theming all the way through, signal losses and power surges when you're in line, ghost chasing you through space. It's fun!

The kids (DD10 and DS7) and I aren't fans of the overlay because we really like the vibe/music of SM in its regular form. But the first time DS was finally old enough to ride it, the GG overlay was on and there was no telling him not to go on. He was 4 1/2 and wasn't very scared--in part because he understood what a "projection" was from Scooby Doo episodes ("That wasn't really a Swamp Monster in the attic, Scooby! It was just a projection!") He still calls the ghost part "an annoying projection"--about which I agree. :)

Hmmm. Maybe I will have her watch a couple of youtube videos of it to gauge her response to it. Granted, I am sure in person, it's a whole lot freakier, but at least this could give her the gist of it to see if she even wants to do it.
I had my 8 year old watch it on youtube. He never even once said it looked scary. I didn't think it did really either. Have her watch with you, then ask her. She will let you know.

I rode it in 2008..and I thought at first (speedy) look it was a man with no skin, and that was unsettling. I would have been scared as a child, but I was a nervous child.

My hubby LOVED the music.

Just watched a YouTube video of the GG w/ my 5 year old. Don't think he'll be going on it. He is really really looking forward to the HM as he is a huge fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas. He also loves going in the Spirit Store and any Halloween displays in other stores (Michael's, Target, etc). I was thinking he would probably be ok w/ GG. Glad I took other's suggestions and had him watch a video prior. :)

GG is my all time favorite overlay and it's a must ride for me. I prefer it to the boring stars of normal SM. I could see it possibly being scary for sensitive youngins, but I rode it multiple times Sunday morning and there were a lot of real young kids in line and on the ride with me. I didn't see any tears :)

I have not shown DD the youtube video yet, but we did watch Nightmare Before Christmas last night, cuz she's soooooo excited about the HM!

You should have her meet Jack & Sally....my son LOVED meeting them last week!

She is SOOOOO stinkin stoked that they will be out to meet! She didnt get the chance on our cruise last fall, cuz the NBC show was just too late for us. But she is so excited to finally get to meet them!!
