Hi,

I've got a friend who has just started working in the english gift shop in epcot on a university exchange(i'm SOOO jealous!!!). Anyway he has heard a rumour that space mountain will be closing for a total refurbishment some time this year (at the end of summer i guess). He's heard it won't reopen until march/april next year.

Has anyone else heard about these changes? I'm not going until Sept 2008 so i hope all the work is finished by then!!! :scared: :scared1: :scared: I would miss my trip into space!!!:sad2: :sad2:

Cheers,

Mouse Lover

Good god - I hope not!!! :scared1:

I have just checked the operational updates on the main site and that is still saying that it will be up and running.

Do you think that he might have meant Spaceship Earth in Epcot - that is being closed for a major refurb from around July 9th until November 1st.

I too would think it is Spaceship earth but would not suprise me if it is Space mountain. After riding SM at Disneyland CA last year I can see MK version is really dated, but personally I prefer it, the DL version is too smooth for me. I believe DLP is also like DL.

Like Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain needs a makeover - it's too rickety. Thanks for posting, ilovethemouse123. :thumbsup2

NO!! Thats the appeal of SM. The new ones are too smooth.:goodvibes

I totally agree Wayne:thumbsup2 I've ridden SM at WDW, DL and DLP and IMO the one at WDW is the best. It might be an oldie but it is certainly a goodie:goodvibes

I must admit SM at DLRP is much superior with regards to ride quality than SM at WDW so any changes will be good news to me :) Especially is SM at WDW is such a bone shaker I can no longer go on it due to medical reasons :(

Claire ;)

Goodness I hope not as we're going in july. In October we did DLRP and I loved SM and dw took ages to come off. Turned out she couldn't walk after it and our friend's hair was up on end.

SM at DLRP is totally different to SM at WDW. WDW is very old and is not inverted it stays upright all the time with just a lap bar, very jerky and not very comfortable IMHO.

I guess i'm in the minority but I didn't like Space Mountain at all, I found it old and tired and a bit boring really. Was very disappointed in it. Would be great if they did a full refurb!

I know that as I've been 4 times before but hoping they keep it as it is to allow our dd7 who is tall enough for the WDW to ride it before it got done.

I think that the ride could do with a bit of modernisation and hopefully they will change the seating - I hate it when you have squash in with your partner! I would like to see it like the RNR seating arrangement.

My mom actually likes SM! It's one of the only rides that she will go on! Weird huh!

I'm still just really chiffed I managed it in WDw and DLRP without being sick!!:scared1:

It's not my cup of tea at all - I think I'm doing well going on Splash Mountain !!

It's too dark and fast for me - :scared1:
