space measurement under bed?

I've heard lots of people say that they could fit their suitcases under the bed. We never even thought to try that the last time. Does anyone know how much space (height) is under the bed? We have hard-sided suitcases and I'm curious if they will fit.

We have one of the huge hard side Samsonite rollers. Didn't fit under the bed and barely fit in the closet,we had to shove the doors shut across it. It is about 15 inches at the widest point. All the other huge rolling soft sided did fit under.

In the passporter it says 9 inches. Does anyone know if this is correct?

We have 2 pretty huge hard sided suitcases that we traveled with last year. We had to lift up the bed frame to slide the suitcases under and then we set it back down and they fit just fine. It was just the edge of the frame it couldn't slide under.

I didn't measure the suitcases(or the room under the bed) but our suitcases are BIG and they fit fine.
