Since there is no non-Orlando trip planning forum, I'll ask here, does anyone have any tips for a side trip here? We want to stay 2 nights (to avoid higher Fri Sat DVC points) and do the Kennedy Space Center. Any recommendations for things that are affordable but not run down in terms of where we can stay/what we can do/restaurants? Thanks :)

There are a bunch of hotel/restaurant recommendations on the Cruise Forum. We booked Best Western Cocoa Beach (we need a 2 bedroom suite), but I know a lot of cruisers stay at the Radisson or Country Inn and Suites. You have to visit Ron Jon's Surf Shop, and there are a ton of seafood restaurants. I'd do a little checking over on the cruise forum if you have time.

We've stayed at the Courtyard in Cocoa Beach. It has beach access. We like Grills (near the Port) and Coconuts on the Beach for lunches/dinners. You must check out the Ron Jon, (although I have better luck at the Cocoa Beach Surf Company for swimsuits).

We went to that Ron Jon's once, on our way to a 3-day Disney cruise (the only cruise we ever took), when I forgot to pack my hat. Then I decided to buy hubby a matching shirt and swim trunks, and did not know that after they sell you something you are supposed to get a 10% off coupon for your next purchase! (Now that they have a Ron Jon's in Orlando as well, these coupons can be found in all the free coupon books around town.)

Any other hints or tips? I doubt if I will get hubby out on the beach; what are accommodations like nearer the Space Center?

Hampton inn cocoa beach was awesome, hot breakfast every morning!!! Beach access, just short distance from Ron Jons.
