Do you have them and do you like them? I saw Kelly Ripa say one time that she had them and loved them. We are in the process of doing our basement over and I'm trying to organize and clean up. I have a lot of extra blankets and pillows and I thought maybe the Space Bags would help save space while still keeping the linens nice. Any advice?

I bought some a few months ago, to store some comforters. I have to say, I am pretty impressed. They were easy to use and made a nice compact package that is holding up pretty well in the attic. I think I'll get some more!

I have some, but after awhile they let air in. Maybe they are defective. :confused3

I have them. They let the air back in. They're good for storing things in the closet, but for damp basements I wouldn't use them.

The ones we purchased at the Container Store and used with a vacuum have worked very well for us.

We use them for the bedspreads as others have indicated and we have some squished beanie babies somewhere in my daughter's closet.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for them? I saw a package of 10 for $27.99. It said assorted sizes but not specifically which ones. It seemed like a good price but maybe I could do better?

Not to threadjack, but curious - to those who have them, about how many quilts/comforters could you fit in the large or jumbo bag?

I had these awhile back. Do not put too much stuff in them or they will split.
I used them for baby clothes and over time they did let air in. This has been 7 or 8 years ago, maybe they have improved. I might try them again.

Kelly Ripa has talked about using them to pack for vacations. She says she can get 2 weeks worth of clothes for 5 in 1 suitcase. That may be BUT that suitcase is going to weigh 200 lbs and the airline will charge you for going over the maximum (not a problem for her but it would be for me). I don't know that I would use them for that.

This may be a really dumb question, but how do you get clothing for five people, back in that one suitcase, when you're heading back home?

I want to use them for our upcoming trip, because we're driving.

I used to travel a lot for business, and always carried 2 in my bag. You'd be surprised at how much clothing condenses in volume when the air is all squished out and then what little room it takes up in a suitcase.

Don't know if clothing for 5 would work for one bag, but I guess it all depends on the size of the suticase and what the clothing and sizes are :) If you have clothing for 2 little kids that consist of shorts and t's, 5 days of that type of clothing in a space bag could condense down to just about nothing.

I've used space bags for about 5 years now and love 'em! I use them around th house to store things like comforters, pillows, etc. But my most frequent use was for travel.

I have them and I have to say they worked great until my cats walked on them with their claws and popped em! Just beware if you have pets and plan to store them in an a pet accessible place!:cool1:

Good question. I was just going to ask that.

But how do you get the air out? Don't you need a vacuum?

I guess you could pack one of those pumps that blow up air mattresses?

I'm going by my memory here, but I think the jumbo held 3 queen size overstuffed comforters (they'e in off site storage or I'd go check for you. It really all depends on the size and composition of your quilts/comforters.

I use manual labor!! I have the kind you roll-up to push/squeeze the air out and then just open it up (much like a zip loc bag).

I think if you were going to use the vacuum type, you could always ask housekeeping to bring one by for you.

My Mom was just telling me she watched a show on tip and tricks......She said they were showing how you can use a garbage bag for this and not spend the money on the "real" bags. You just wad the opening around a vacuum suck out the air, twist and tape or tie? I dunno because I have never tried it, but, it might be worth a shot especially if you are not going to need them for a long period of time.

I used these they NEVER worked. The plastic is really cheap & rips very easily! The air always got back in!:confused3

I am suprised that they still sell them.
