Do many of you use them?? Are they durable?? I was thinking about getting them because we always overpack. Plus where is the cheapest place to purchase?

I have not used space bags but the oversized zip lock baggies work the same way - I know they come in 2 gallon and recently at Wal Mart I saw even bigger ones - I have found even the 2 gallon bags do be very effective in saving space.

The biggest problem now is that if you Space bag you really have to watch your wieght. It"s really easy to go over the 50lb weight with any baggage over a 26in pullman.

Another thing is if your bag gets checked and they open the space bag and can't get it reclosed they will just leave it opened and taper your bag shut.

The bigger Ziploc bags are better for organising and keeping your things togetherand clean.

I've flown with Spacebags only to have airport secuirty open them up in order to check the contents. Not a pretty site me attempting to cram everything back into the duffle bag.

You're definitely better off doing the ziplock and squeezing out the air, you won't get as much extra space, but at least you won't have the secuirty issues. :Pinkbounc

We used them last month and our bag got checked. They did not mess with opening the Space Bags so we were fine. I did use the regular ziploc bags on DD's items and loved that I had the entire outfit in one bag!

I agree with everyone else. I bought some space saver bags at Target, but use gallon or two gallon size ziplocks instead. If you're traveling in the winter and will be packing jeans I'd use the 2 gallon zip locks. However if you're traveling during the warm months you can easily get a pair of shorts and a blouse into a 1 gallon ziplock by rolling them up. That way all you have to do is pull out an already matching outfit each morning. I usually divide my bras into two zip locks and put one ziplock in my carry on and the other in my checked luggage and then do the same for my panties (just in case my checked bag gets lost by the airline). I want all my toiletries in zip locks just in case they leak/break. I also like the idea of having everything in ziplocks, just in case TSA have to go through my bag.

We always use the spacebags. Love them! We put our 50 plush disney animals in one bag and they are as flat as a pancake! We go in Jan. so we have a lot of disney sweatshirts and jeans, jackets, so it comes in real handy! They are GREAT!

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find that using Spacebags saved any more room than tightly rolling my clothes. I did a "test pack" both ways, and found that I got the same results with rolling. Things got less wrinkled with rolling, as well. Go figure!

I spent a fortune this year on those dang space bags and well,,,, if you have cats dont bother unless you put them up high.. my cat punctured every one of them crawling under the bed with her claws! But of you do want to get them I have found the cheapest place is at AJ wright.. GOOD LUCK!!

I agree with ZoZo, rolling the clothes I can get more into the suitcase and makes for a neater fit . I now have my DS & DIL, DD and SIL doing the same. Works better for all of us.
