I've got a strange question. We'll be tent camping at the Ft. this summer and we are driving down in our CAR. Yeah, I know. :crazy2:

Anyway, we all know how much space pillows and sleeping bags take up. I was considering getting space bags so I can smash them down as small as possible for the drive. Great idea, right?? ::yes::

But, the only thing we would have with us to get the air out for the ride back home would be our air mattress pump (which does work in reverse). My concern is the nozzle size... the nozzle on the pump is 1/4 the size of a vaccum hose.

So, anyone know if this would work? I have no idea how the bags are made or if I could attach something that small and make it work. :confused3

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated! I'm :listen:

I have never liked space bags and the suction of your vacuum has to be very strong to get it to work right, and the hose size is standard, so IDK if it will work. Try Packing Cubes. I use them for packing and love them. You could also buy a small space bag for testing.

Thanks, I'll check on the cubes and see if they will work. I was afraid this would be the response. Bummer.

I absolutely hate space bags. They completely take the poofiness (yes, I know that's not even a word LOL) out of pillows, comforters, blankets and if you use them for clothes, almost permanently wrinkle them.

Never again for me! :(

YIKES!
Okay, back to the drawing board. :lmao:

I did not like the space bags. I did get ours to work, eventually. Once I loaded the contents in the bag, it was very heavy to lift. I put the comforter and linen in which was lighter in my arms without the bag. Go figure.

I use the giant ziploc bags you can find at WalMart and Target. You don't need a vacuum cleaner. You can sit on them, roll them or whatever to get the air out. I primarily use them for our clothing. We have a pop up camper and I find that the ziploc bags work great for storing our clothing under the dinette seats. Our clothes don't wrinkle if you fold your clothes neatly and put them into neat stacks in the bag. I highly recommend them.
