I was looking at some of the spa treatments and I saw that this one combined facial and massage, has anyone done this treatment before? I don't have very much experience with spas... but thought that this might be good to get a feel for both.

Is it worth it? I'm on a fairly tight budget!

I did this last September and it was great. It was long enough, and you got just enough of both services. I thought it was a terrific deal! Of course now I order the skincare products over the internet 'cause I loved them so much. The best I've ever tried for my very sensitive skin.

Although I haven't had the taster, I've had the individual treatments (facial and massage). I agree with disneydudette1...the products are great! I wasn't doing much for my face previously, other than soap & water and of course occasional facials. However, on our last trip it was very dry due to swimming in chlorinated water almost daily now. I bought a chamomile moisturizer and the difference is amazing! But even if you aren't interested in the products and just want to treat yourself, the facial is awesome! And you can never go wrong with a massage :D

My wife and I did the 'taster' on Castaway Cay. It really was awesome, the only recommendation that I'd make is that I would skip the taster on CC and do it on a day at sea. CC is such an absolute paradise with just so much to do that it seemed to me like a little bit of a 'waste' to do the open air massage/combo when there was many other distractions.

The view from the Cabanas are out of this world, but like 99% of your time there you have your face in a towel..

We've not tried to spa on the ship but this trip 11/09 we are planning on it. As far as CC, we are keeping the kids with us, my little boy and I are going parasailing.

Good luck!

I think they should rename this to spa teaser. I have had the La Therapie facial (an hour of pure bliss) and a massage (another hour of pure bliss). I don't think I could only do 25 minutes of each.
I also purchase a couple of skin creams from Steiner. They work great. I have rosacea..

I LOVED the Spa Taster! It was so relaxing and well worth the money. I would rather have this twice than one of the more expensive treatments...just more pampering! LOL! :)

The facial was so relaxing and I even dozed off!

I recommend it!

Hi DisneyGator --
Just so you know, the facials on DCL have no extractions. That may be fine with you, but if you're used to that being a part of a facial, you should know it isn't there...

Have fun!

Please Beware.

My husband and I went on a 4 day wonder cruise as part of our honeymoon in 2000. We booked this combo package I think called something different then. We did this on Castaway Cay...(BTW - I would also recommend this for a day at sea.)

Anywho... This was a side by side facial and massage. One person would get a facial while the other got a massage. While I got my massage I heard the facialist tell my husband, "you should use a moisturizer." "Promise your wife that you will use a moisturizer."

My husband says, "I promise". I thought this was funny, I knew that he was just saying this to placate her. He can't even remember to floss.

I don't remember the price but for illustration purposes only...

The rate I was given was 150.00 so when the treatment was over I received a bill and my husband received a bill. I assumed this was so he could determine a gratuity. My Bill says 150.00. So I calculate a gratuity.

We leave. I ask my husband how much he leaves for a tip he tells me $15.00 but the total was $90.00.... Wha?????

My math skills tell me he was charged an additional $75.00. I look at his receipt and see that he signed for a $50.00 mosturizer and $25.00 eye gel.

I was there in the room she NEVER asked him to buy any products. Promise to use A moisturizer does not translate to we have a wonderful moisturizer that I recommend would you be interested in buying some to take home with you. AND eye gel was never discussed.

I have been to many spas and I know all about the sales pitch for the products used. There was no pitch to either of us and I was never offered a thing.

So we turn around and go back. The girls name was SONICA and she was from New Zealand. I walked in and said, I need to go over this charge with you and she immediately said, "I'll take the items off." I didn't even have to explain, she knew that why I was back. It was shameless.

I reported this to guest services and they offered to remove the tip. I told them that my husband enjoyed his massage and I did not want the tip removed but I suggested that they speak to Sonica about this and I promised that if anyone ever asked about the spa on the ship I would tell them about this incident.

So I'm telling you.

Just be careful.

Yes, it was yummy. I did on the day at sea. It's great for a tight budget, I believe it was around $80, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments...

If I can get enough OT before my cruise, I will definitely be doing this treatment!
