Can anyone recommend any good spa treatments. We're heading out tomorrow night, and I just decided that I think I want to have a spa treatment on the cruise. I was thinking about the capsule one where you feel like you've slept, or either the one that de-toxifys you. What do y'all think?? :cool1:

I LOVED my massage. It was very relaxing and it felt great. I also had a facial which I would not have again, I have had better for less on land. I have not had either of the ones you mentioned so I cannot comment on those but you can never go wrong with a massage.

Boy, that is a tough question! I am a spa addict, so I have tried a lot. I personally wasn't that enthralled with the capsule, but DH loved it. We signed up for three sessions, he took two and I took one.

I have always enjoyed the spa taster, which is a back of body massage and a mini-facial. Very relaxing.

However, they also offer a reflexology massage. Though I've not yet tried this on DCL, the one time I did have a reflexology massage, I almost melted away! :cloud9:

Whatever you choose, have a good time!

Use the Tropical Rainforest room..It is wonderful. It is a mixture of showers and steam rooms that will really relax you. The couples massage was really good too. pirate:

I have never experienced anythink better than the outdoor beach cabana massage at Castaway. It was luxuriously unreal. We are now planning a cruise for next year on the RCCL. MY only problem with that is missing out on my cabana massage. Last year on our Magic cruise I was reallly sorry that I did not book another one later in the day. I did it early and could have squeezed one more in. Pedicure was also really nice. Those are the only choices I would do next time.

We just experienced the ones that you're considering, so I thought I would give you a little info on them specifically. DH did the 50 minute capsule. Some of his initial observations were that the room it's located in, is not that quiet. He could still hear some background noise. The capsule vibrates and it has heat. Both of them you can adjust with buttons on the inside. It blows cool air on your face and you have the headphones and eye mask. He didn't fully relax in the first one, but he said that knowing what to expect the second time around, he was sound asleep within 5 minutes and woke up feeling very refreshed. They don't give you anything to change into, you just wear whatever you came to the spa in. He wore his bathing suit. His recommendation is the set of 3 treatments, 25 minutes each, spread out over a couple of days.

I had my choice of the detox treatments. The first is the one where they lather you up and attach electrodes to your body. A faint pulse of electricity is sent through. There is no massage or anything involved, it's basically like a medical treatment. You can lose anywhere from 1-8" from a single treatment. The seaweed wrap will give you close to the same results, but it's all natural. You do have to strip down to nothing though. They do supply you with a pair of paper panties, but that's it and you are exposed at certain times. The seaweed is in a mud form and slathered all over your body. You are then wrapped in tinfoil and a blanket. You kind of feel like a baked potato. While the mud is drying, you get a nice scalp massage. There is a shower in the room and you will scrub off, put on fresh paper panties and lay down for another creamy mixture to be placed on. Once again, your wrapped up tight and you get a foot massage. The final step is rinsing again in the shower and laying down on your belly for a back massage.

Other than that, I had the pro collagen facial and a salon appointment for a color and cut. Everything we had done was terrific.

We just returned eleven days ago from the Magic. I had the capsule, back of the body massage, and a manicure, oh,and on my massage day I went in the tropical rain forest room. I would definately recommend a massage (mine was with Charlene).

The capsule was nice, but as someone else posted, its located in a noisy place. Well, actually it wasn't noisy, but I was aware of people walking by, and I was a bit embarassed to be lying there in a space coffin with a bean bag on my eyes. It was relaxing and the essential oils smelled great. It is also a nice value.

The tropical rain forest room is really interesting, but I'm a bit too antsy to relax by myself without recieving a treatment. I liked it but I kept wandering from chair to sauna, to steam room, to shower, etc. until I felt that I didn't want to disturb the other person in there and left, but it was definately nice.

I needed a manicure desperately, so I had that done. While I would have prefered to have that service at home, I thoroughly enjoyed the conversatioin and company of the cm's and other cruisers sitting nearby. I wouldn't seek out either manicure or pedicure while cruising again unless I needed it.

So, I would whole heartedly recommend a massage, and I am definately going to do my best to have a cabana massage when we cruise again.

I am a spa addict!
I love the reflexology, and both my hubby and I enjoy the seaweed wrap/massage, which leaves you feeling detoxified and as limp as a noodle. On our last cruise, I tried something new: some type of head massage that they do in the beauty salon area. The cost was very reasonable and it was so relaxing!

Barb, that was the frangapini scalp massage. I saw someone having it done and she had her eyes closed and head forward. She looked totally relaxed and you're right, the price was very reasonable.

I forgot to mention that the Magic had a new treatment available for teeth whitening. I didn't read up on it, but I believe it was $199 for 3 treatments. It was being done in the salon.
