We're on our way to VWL in about two weeks for a quick getaway before Christmas. Would like to give DW some time at the spa at either the GF or SSR and am looking for advice from those who have used their services - any recommendations or suggestions? I know it's cutting it close but it looks like we are going - things have been up in the air pending the adoption of our third son from Guatemala. We're tied up in the Guatemalan court system and unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll be traveling to pick him up before our trip to WDW. DW has been stressing about that and I thought a massage/pedicure or manicure might help...

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Update 12/3

After looking at the website and our schedule, I booked DW in at the GF for an aromatherapy massage. Told her about it last night and she can't wait. Unfortunately, the adoption will not be completed in time for the trip but we have decided to go. Of course, since soon to be DS#3 won't be withus yet for this trip, we're going back next summer!

I have been to both spas and definitely enjoyed both, either one is a great gift, but I prefer the GF. An aromatherapy massage and pedicure or facial would be a very nice gift. If you can get it, an early afternoon time is wonderful to go relax and then meet the family for dinner. Hope she enjoys!

I believe there is a 20% DVC discount at the SSR spa as opposed to a 10% discount at GF. So you may want to chose SSR instead. I had a 50-min. Swedish massage there and thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a kind and thoughtful DH you are! I used the spa at Saratoga recently and it was divine! But I haven't been to the GF so I cannot compare. If you chose SSR you could check out the new resort and use the pool while you are there. If your sons are young they will love the zero entry pool, kiddie slide and Donald water play area.

Good luck with the adoption I hope it all goes well.

They offer some great services. I have only tried the spa at the Grand Floridian but I can tell you.. I am a new person when I leave there and very very relaxed. The swedish massage there is great and a wonderful way to just let it all go.

Have a great trip!

Thanks sk8belle, mrsminniemouse, and bracho! I appreciate your comments and kind words. The web site was a great help. Now how to decide on what to get her....thanks!

Does anyone recommend a specific treatment at each of these locations?

I had a manicure and a pedicure yesterday at the Nail Place across the street from the Orlando Premium Outlets Mall - in the same strip shopping center that Publix is in - it's down on the end around the corner from the UPS store.

The place is new, very clean (immaculate) and has a nice atmosphere. The have those big massaging chairs for the pedicures. It was truly one of the best pedicures that I've had.

I just walked in and forgot to ask the price. The pedicure was so thorough - nothing rushed about it - that I thought "This must be one of those $40-50 pedicures." I was wrong it was $25. A fill and polish was $18.

I am staying at SSR but just decided to check on the Nail Place on a whim when I was at the mall. I was very pleased and now have a lot more money for shopping.
