Spa/Massage Question

For anyone who has had a Swedish massage at Disney, whether at the spa (GF or SSR) or in the health club locations, what were your thoughts? I'm trying to figure out what the difference in price is.

DVC members can get a 50 min Swedish massage at SSR for $110 while at the massage and fitness center (AKL) the same massage is $72. What would I be getting for the extra $40?

The locations at GFand SSR are listed as Niki Bryan "Spas".

The locations at AKL, Y&BC, Boardwalk, Contemporary and WL are listed as Niki Bryan "Massage and Fitness Centers".

I have had massages at both GF and SSR and the price included use of all the spa facilities.

The regular price for a 55 minute swedish massage at the "Massage and Fitness Centers is $90. At the Spas, it is $120.

I think the price difference is due to the Spa amenities "The Spa houses a spacious state-of-the art fitness center for keeping a healthy life style. Both ladies’ and gentlemen’s lounges, complete with Jacuzzi, Turkish steam bath, and dry sauna are available for relaxing, detoxifying and therapeutic use."

versus the Fitness Center amenities: "We house a full line of strength equipment, free weights and cardiovascular machines, including treadmills, stair steppers and stationary bicycles (upright and recumbent)."

So, if you just want the massage and don't plan to use the other facility offerings, I would go with the less expensive offering.

I do have to say that I really enjoyed soaking in the jacuzzi at SSR before my last massage, but I don't think it was worth an extra $40.

Thanks. I'm going to just keep it at the massage center since it's after a 1/2 marathon and you can't use heat because it will keep your heart beat elevated. Since I don't need the extras, I will take the least expensive option!

Good luck with the half-marathon. One of my friends is participating. We are arriving at WDW the day of the marathon and hope to meet up with my friend for dinner.
