Sorry if this isn't the correct forum, but I'll ask anyway.

Anyone use the Spa at Saratoga Springs? If so what treatments did you have and how did you like them? Thanks. Gayle

While I haven't personally used the spa services, I know several guests who have and they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Here is some information about the <a href="http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/waltdisneyworld/recreation/spas/spaindex?id=SPASaratogaSpringsSpa">Saratoga Springs Spa.</a>

Enjoy!

I am thinking about doing the spa treatment they have 'on special' in June. OK, so who has used SSS and what treatment did you have and what would you like to have?? I love the DVC discount they have

Thanks for the replies Doc and Pumbaa.

I have been looking over all the choices at the spa and couldn't decide what to try. Pumbaa, I'm going in June also, do you already know what the DVC special is? Gayle

I did the Bed of Roses package in March..it was wonderful. A woman and her DIL were there at the same time as a gift from the son/husband. The wife did Bed of Roses too. He is a DVC guide although I don't remember what they said his name was. I digress...anyway the Bed of Roses was fantastic.

There is a 30% discount on this treatment in June-It is on the member website

June 2003
NEW! After-Sun Replenishment - This replenishing treatment is designed to hydrate and nourish your skin specifically to help relieve the effects of the sun. A cooling body wash calms the skin while the benefits of lavender in a hydrating gel and therapeutic body oil provides comfort. (50 minutes)

Doesn't that sound nice?

I bought my DG Jana a treatment at the spa as a Xmas present, she seemed to really enjoy the day there. You can use all the gym, sauna and pool facilities if you've purchased a treatment there so it's worth getting there early. If you're travelling from a DVC ( I think any Disney resort) they will lay on a curtesy car to drop you there and back.

When we were at WDW in September, my sister and her friend went to the spa twice and they both loved it.

As Vernon said I went over Xmas and loved it. I had a pedicure and a custom theraputic massage. It was fabulous. I didn't get to use the sauna that day as it was being worked on. The staff were very friendly. This was my first spa experience and I loved it. They do give you curtesy transpertation as there are no Disney busses going there at the moment. I found this out the hard way and tried to walk from DTD it was a long walk LOL. They also have everything you need to freshen up after spending time in the spa.
Do give it a try you'll love it.

Wow--this sounds great. Since DH is golfing twice this trip I thought I deserved a spa trip. The After-sun Rplenishment sounds great especially since I was planning to go mid-trip, but its so hard to decide--I spent about an hour last night trying to decide, and still wasn't able to make a definative decision. The Bed of Roses that BCV23 did sounds awsome also. (Note for future visits--TRY EVERYTHING at some point!!)

Thanks for the transportation info Jana, I thought I had read somewhere that they send a car for resort guests. Was it complimentary? Did you just contact the front desk at the resort, or did ths spa send it for you?

How far in advance did you book? Any problems getting the time that you wanted?

Thanks again. Gayle

My wife is an excellent massage therapist and loves to receive also. One of the things that she insists on is a 2-hour massage every time we hit the World. The first time was at the Grand Floridian's Spa and she left feeling that she had just wasted a lot of money. On another trip she received her massage from a therapist at OKW. She was certain that this was the best massage she had ever had and vowed to return to this girl only. Now full spa services and just a massage are two different things, but if its massage that you like most, put out a thread asking for recommendations about specific massage experiences and try to get a name. With massage, word of mouth is everything. I can get you the name of the therapist that my wife recommends if you like. Good luck,
Rich

I think they will provide a voucher for a taxi. When you reserve the spa treatment, just ask about transportation and they'll advise. The Bell Staff at your resort can probably assist also.

We used the complimentary taxi service for an educational program at DI and it was a nice experience.

Enjoy!

I used complimentary transportation too. I asked at the front desk of the AKL about tipping. I was told that the voucher includes a tip for the driver. Asked if I should tip the bell captain and was told no because it is a salaried position. I then checked with the bell captain about calling ahead for a cab.

Anyway when I was ready to leave for my appointment I called the valet number and asked that he call for a cab and advised that I was leaving my room. The cab pulled up as I walked out the door. The bell captain asked where I was going and gave me a voucher on which he circled SSR.

Return trip I asked the fellow at the desk at SSR to call for a cab. He gave me the voucher and I walked out and waited 3-4 minutes for the cab. Painless.

When I booked my appointment I was told to just contact the front desk for a cab. I didn't do this as I went to DTD and thought I could walk from there. I stayed at the Institute in 98 and knew you could walk threw. Well the Institute is now closed for remodling and you can't walk threw so I had a VERY long walk a long the road :o . I did get the cab back. I just told them I was ready to go back to the resort and they called a cab.

Sorry forgot part of your answer. I didn't have much trouble booking but it was getting booked up quickly. This was due to the fact it was Xmas time and people were giving this as gifts. I'm not sure how it is regularly. I do know a lot of locals use the spa.

Loved it,loved it,loved it!! Got the "Minnie Spa" package for DD -which consisted of a manicure, pedicure, facial, a goodie bag and HUGE lunch!! She had such a great time, that I booked a manicure, pedicure and rose aromatherapy facial for myself. The only hard part was having to-eventually- pack up and leave. The relaxation was immediate, just walking in the door was a treat, the spa area heavenly-right down to the small, chilled towels to use in the sauna! :)

I used the spa for the first time Octorber. 02. We stayed at Port Orleans, which is next to the spa.

At that time the spa was called the Disney Instiute Spa. I didn't even know it existed. I was advised that if I needed to use a taxi to get there I would have been reimbursed at the front desk. Since I had a car it was not necessary.

This is the best spa on the property. I have also been to the one at the Grand Floridian and the Saratoga Springs is better. It was not crowded, plenty of equipment and great whirlpool. There is a seperate one for men and women. I highly recommend the spa.

Enjoy!!

P.S. There were people staying at OKW that paid the fee to use this spa- -it is worth it compared to the facilities at OKW.

Wed1Wed-

I'm always looking for the name of a good massage therapist, so I would love the name of the person at OKW.

As to the transportation issue- this is another reason I love Disney-"Painless" to quote BCV23-they think of everything.

Thanks again everyone. I wish I were there now. (Raining here in Chicagoland) Gayle

Gayle, we live just to the east of you...next town over. It is pouring this am isn't it? But we do need it. Have a great time at the Spa!
