Hi there! Someone had suggested that I look at the laughingplace.com website to get some things ahead of time. (thanks for the suggestion ). I dashed right over to check it out and was SHOCKED at the prices.

Now, I am a realist and I know that things are never cheap in the parks but is it typical for a key chain to cost $16 and a mug to be $20?? :earseek: They had starter pin sets for like $46 and magents for $13. Cell phone holders for $27 and tote bags for $46???????? :confused3 I am in shock! Like I said, I KNOW that the gift shops in the park are a rip off but I couldnt believe the prices of some of these items!!!!! Is this website high priced or am I looking at "specialty" type items?

Or, should I just bring a LOT more money than I originally anticipated?????

No, laughing place is more expensive than the parks are. It's like paying for the ''convience'' of getting them when you're not at the parks.
For example, the are selling the dvd's of the parks for $33, I didn't buy from there because I was going to WDW and knew they'd be cheaper there and it was only $19.99 on-site.
Hope this helps.

Laughingplace is definitely higher priced. If you're going to the park, you're better off buying the things at the park itself. I remember another site (can't remember which) was charging almost $50 for tshirts...even for children's tees!

Hi,

Don't know what kinds of things you're looking to get in advance, but if you just want some little treats for your kids while they're waiting for the trip, try the dollar stores. Some of the things I've seen at the Dollar Tree recently are large Mickey Mouse lollipops (look a lot like the ones at WDW), stickers of Disney characters, Mickey pencils and notebooks, and small princess dolls, kind of like Polly Pocket. They also usually have glow necklaces and sticks, which are fun for the kids to wear during the fireworks and evening parades.

If you're looking for tees, they have some really cute ones in junior sizes at Target and Kohl's right now--with characters like Tink or Dopey.

My daughter wanted the super sized Eeyore plush from the Disney Store for ages. Our last trip Eeyore was $15 cheaper in Toon Town than at our local Disney Store in the mall---and this was when Disney owned Disney Store (but that is another issue, DON'T get me started).

I do the MUST HAVE souvenirs at the park and the hit the Disney outlet for cheaper things to take home as 'extras' and for friends....

We just came back from DL and went to the outlet there and got 6 different characters from the HM normally priced $14 each, they were 3 for $10. We got the 3 hitch-hiking ghosts, the bride, caretkaer w/dog and skeleton. They are playset kind of things....they also had a light up HM for $10 but I didn't get it and now am kicking myself in the butt!!!!

The items on laughing place are going to be higher priced b/c they would need to make some sort of profit to stay in business.
