I saw a post where there was talk about a refillable/reuseable cup. I thought you had to purchase a meal deal to get a refill cup. If someone has more info I would love to hear it. Also any details on the draft beer cup would be helpful. My kids love soda and I will be there on my birthday so I might like an adult beverage. Thanks for the help.

I believe if you have the meal deal then the refills are free. But there is a cup with refills for I think it was .69c last time I was there.

I think there are two different kinds of cups.

There is one that is used for the meal deal that has free refills and one that you pay for refills.
We found that for the meal deal you would need to eat at least two full meals at one of three counter service locations. You also do not need to buy one cup for each meal deal. There were four of us and we got two cups that we could share.

It would probably take about 5 or 6 refills for the cups to pay for themselves.

I bought Cups with refills costing 69 cents, cost of cup was $6.99 with a drink in it.
Our cup was red and we bring it back every year as it does not expire. There are Character cups as well sold in the Parks that gets the cheap refills, i think there are 2 sizes in them and think but not sure thjat they cost approx $10 & $12

the meal deal and the beverage deal are two different promotions.

each has a fee.

the beverage deal that you buy when you also buy the meal deal has the free refills for that same day.

the promos are listed on the UO website.

you can only get that beverage deal if you purchase the meal deal.

the other beverage programs have been explained by the others above.

hope this helps

Does the .69 cent refillable cup come with one of the those carrying strap things? I presume I could just fill it with water at a fountain all day if I wanted instead of soda each time right?

I don't like soda at all, i love water. my plan is to bring a bottle of water with me, and just fill it at the bubblers. and this isn't because i am cheap (even though i do consider myself thrifty...) i just don't like soda. so i don't see why you can't buy the refillable cup and do the same thing. i don't know if it comes with a strap, but you could probably bring one or fashion one yourself just in case.

You can buy the refillable cups and have them to put water in it also and if I am not mistaking after you buy the refillable cup each time you ask for water you won't be charged cause water is free but don't quote me on that I could be wrong and if I am someone else on here will say so :rotfl:

if you want a carrying strap, you would have to buy it. when you decide to buy one of the reusable, life time mugs, get one with a strap. much easier to carry imo

Where do you buy the lifetime mugs? Seems like a good deal if you're going for multiple days...

any mug you buy at the park is considered valid for a lifetime for the parks.

i bought mine when dueling dragons was opened and the dd merch started.
it has a slender section where you could grasp the bottle but also has a long handle where my entire hand will fit in.
the lid is attached to the bottle and there is an accordion heavy plastic straw with it. the straw end has a tip that is attached to it.
that way it doesn't drip when i walk around with it in case it is full of soda.

(i should show a picture of mine which might help newbies out.)

if you buy the mugs in the park, you can bring them back any time, any year.
you would pay the refill charge for the soda.
i'm so cheap, i even show my AAA card or my AP card for the 10% discount on the refill....:rolleyes1

the refills are only valid in the parks, not at city walk or the onsite hotels.

may i suggest if you buy a mug, which can range in cost from $6.99 -$9.99, do it carefully. it has to be something that is easy to carry or put in a bag you have with you. if you have the AP or AAA cards, you can get a 10% discount on the purchase of it in the stores.

while the Sponge Bob is a cute and delightful mug, it is not as easy to carry around. it's square and not easy to walk with. (the ones a few years back, did not have a handle on them.)

i think the mugs that have a handle are the best.
you can buy a strap, loop the handle portion to a belt or a clippy on your shorts loop and keep yourself hands free.

on days i plan to do the coasters, i leave my mug in the hotel. i would have to use a locker/free to store it in order to ride the coasters.
for the period i am not doing coasters, my mug is with me.

2 years ago the plastic straw on my mug was not in good shape.
when i got a refill, the TM was kind enough to replace the straw for free for me. that was a treat as i thought it was time to replace the one i have had for years.

the lifetime mugs is not something you would read about on the universal site.
you learn about that and other unknown secrets through these message boards from the regulars that go to the parks.

i don't know everything by a long shot but can always share my personal experiences and what works for me and some ins and outs with newbies.

came back to add that when you buy from the carts, many do not give the 10% discount.
and, if you buy a mug from a cart, the first fill up is usually included.
i bought my in the merch store many moons ago.

last week when we were there, they would give you a cup of ice water in a courtesy cup but they ran out of cups, so we just had them fill up our souvenior cup

That helps clear up some of my questions. Macraven did you say the meal deal cup is only good for the one day?

it is supposed to be valid only for the day you buy the meal deal.

but, between you and me and the thousands that read this post,
many have reported the TM's have allowed some vacationers to get the free refills during the entire trip they used the meal cup.

is that kindness or what i ask you.....

of course, that could change at any time.

the official policy is the free refills are valid for the dates you buy the beverage promo and meal deal promo.

Let me get this straight. I can buy a meal deal and then buy the 1 day souvinir cup for $8.99 and get free refills that day only OR I can pay close to the same amount and get a lifetime mug that I can use all week for $0.69 refills. Sounds like the lifetime mug will be the way I go!

the only way to get the sippy cup deal of free refills for the day is if you also buy the meal deal promo.

btw, see my small print above for the rest of your question :rolleyes1

for me, i did the mug that is valid for a lifetime.
last year in october the price for the refills was $1.19 with tax.
then the prices went down.

What about refillable beer mugs? I did read somewhere that they have them:thumbsup2
