Can you use ME with this airline? I think the answer is no but I 'm not sure if anything has changed. Thanks

You can use Magical Express when using Southwest; however, for the return service Southwest does not participate in the aspect of Magical Express that permits you to check your returning luggage in at the resort. This means that you will be required to take your luggage with you and check it at the airport. Not a big deal, but definitely less convenient.

The following ME services are available with any airline:

1) Check your bags at your home airport and have them delivered directly to your resort room.

2) Free bus transportation from the airport to your resort.

3) Free bus transportation from your resort back to the airport.

The one thing that's airline-dependent is the ability to check your bags at the resort for your return flight. That's only available for certain airlines, and Southwest is not currently on that list, as far as I know.

It is not we fly SWA all the time.

Thanks for all your replies! I hope Southwest gets on board with checking luggage at the resorts for the return trip home.

We fly Delta but because of my delta status, I dont have to pay for luggage fees...of course, this cant be done through ME, so we always just have them on the bus with us. Its really not that bad - they'll put them under the bus with you and then you check in at the airport with them - it only added maybe 10 minutes to our airport activities.

Southwest is currently in a testing phase at POP and the all star resorts for resort airline checkin which is where you can check your bags at your resort and not have to take them back to the airport. For other resorts, the only thing different is that you will have to take your bags back to MCO and check them in yourself. It is expected that SW will probably expand to all resorts at some point in the future, but until it happens, that's just a rumor.

They were starting the testing phase when we were there in July if I remember correctly. So hopefully we will see this service at all the resorts soon.

We just got back from Disneyworld flying SW. We did use the Magical Express and had our bags delivered to our room. The bags did not arrive till almost 5 hours later - it was very stressful and the bellman even told me he would not use the luggage delivery service. Next time I will get my luggage and bring it on my ME bus.

I have used it 4 times and my bags were always in the room when we got back, now honestly only 2 times do I know when they were delivered, our first trip we hopped a bus to a park as soon as we got to our resort, after checking in, and when we got back later in the day our bags were there. One time at pop, our room wasnt ready til 3 even though I had checked in at 10, and we were heading to our room after a trip to a park, about 3:15 and the person was just putting them in our room, but again, it had JUST been assigned to us, so even though that was 5 hours after check in, it was only about 15 minutes after we got our room. One time we headed to our room, and about 1:30 after we had checked in, while we were in the room, they brought our bags. We were at SSR once, and again, we were in the parks when they were delivered.

Why didnt you just check in and head to a park or something? You didnt just sit in your room and wait did you?

And of course my 'defending DME' kicks in and I have to ask, how do you know the delay was disney's fault and not the airlines? What it you would have been waiting at MCO for 2 hours for your bags or something like that? Not saying there wasnt an issue, and you werent there around Thanksgiving were you?? No matter what system you have, if you are slammed with passengers and guests, it CAN take longer just because of the sheer volume..
