What should I reasonably expect to pay for a nonstop Southwest flight to Orlando for a family of 4? Our trip is not until the second week in October, so when I first looked at flights last week, I thought it was too early to buy. Now the flights we wanted have gone up $22 each way, costing us an extra $176. This took the total price from the low $1500s to the high $1600s, & I'm just sick over it. Southwest is the only airline offering direct flights to MCO (a must), and the times with cheaper flights are not ideal. What do I do - accept the fact that I screwed up & pay the extra $ or wait and hope it goes back down? I know Southwest offers fare change credits, but that's no use to me if they have to be used in a year, bc we never fly.

I also waited on my flights and they went up about $50 each way. I waited about another month and the flights went back down about $50. I would wait.

Where are you flying from. We fly from Manchester, NH and I usually pay between $225-$250/pp

We booked through AT/SW the day flights opened up for October. We are also traveling the second week. My flights are steadily climbing. Last year when we booked a trip, our flights never did drop in price.

If you can live with the price of the flights now, then I would book. If not, just keep checking flights and prices daily. Good luck!

We fly from Manchester also. I am watching flights for August. I got flights to Orlando for $125 each but home is $173. I am hoping they come down soon.

The cheapest SWA flights for Philly -> Orlando is in the range of $114 for Oct right now. I thought that was actually pretty good. There are some flights that are as much as $224 one way!!!!!

In order to get good fares, you need to be flexible. If you want the "best" times and direct flights, you will eventually pay more because everyone wants the "best" direct flights. At some point, you have to decide to pull the trigger and not look back.

If it helps, check kayak.com to see if they recommend buying or waiting. There's a Price Trend graph on the upper left of the page when you search for fares. Even though SWA isn't included in their search, their prices will be consistent with other airline flying the same route.

For those flying from Manchester, was that a nonstop flight?? I check a few months ago and did not see nonstop. Figured we'd have to go to Boston.

Hold off they will be having their annual birthday sale in June. You might get a good deal.

Nashville. It went from $190 to $212.

I'm flying out of Nashville in June an its $101 each way. Just wait they will have a sale eventually. I kept watching the flights fluctuated between $96 and $130. Since I missed the $96 I waited till they were back down and booked at $101. Not bad. I was actually able to use sw points so even better.

There are non stop flights from Manchester. I don't know if its everyday but definitely on the weekends, and a couple other days of the week. There's usually two of them on Saturdays... We drive down from Maine sometimes to take the non stop, its so much quicker!

There are usually two( sometimes more) non-stop flights per day. Honestly I would even pay extra to fly out of Manchester. I love that airport!

I check Southwest several times a day the prices can change within hours. Prices are cheaper if you check them on weekdays weekends they seem to raise the prices. It seems flying out of Baltimore it is cheaper to fly Tuesday thru Thursday prices are higher if you travel on weekends. You just have to check the web site often.

I love MHT too! I like how quiet it is and how it has the non stop SW flight to MCO. ;)

We went in August last year and the prices really didn't drop until about the third week in June.

This may be an internet lie (if it's on the internet it must be true!) but I've heard if you're checking flights a lot to clear the cookies in your web browser every once in awhile. I guess they can track IP addresses and know that you're looking - I don't think they raise prices then, but they don't go back down.

Like I said, everything on the internet must be true, right?!?! ;)

I know this is true of hotwire (I've seen it myself) but Southwest doesn't do this. I'm not sure which airlines if any do it but I know JetBlue also does not do it.

Thanks! Def would be worth it to me to pay a bit extra for a nonstop out of Manchester.

Our flight out of Philly in late Oct. started at $157. It went down to $109 last week so I grabbed it. We needed 9 seats. The cost is now $134 and has been for the week. I will continue to check though, if it goes down I will use the credits for the trip home. Our return date has been released yet. Overall, I'm happy with the $109.
