I booked my flight about 3 weeks ago and when I checked today they now have Internet fares, which they didn't have when I booked, and the Internet fare would have saved me $35, but they are all unavailable. I am signed up for Ding, but this has nothing to do with internet fares right? How do you get advance notice of internet fares? I get their emails.

I tend to check the SW site frequently, just so that I don't miss those internet specials. I have noticed that sometimes, the"specials" are offered, but some of the flights for that date start off "unavailable". :sad2:
Keep checking your Dings; just because a certain flight comes up as "unavailable" on the website, that flight may be open for a Ding! (That happened to us for our next trip to WDW!):thumbsup2

You may be able to get that $100 as credit towards future flights.

I'm good at doing this, but not good at explaining, so do a search, or else hopefully someone will step in and explain better.

Under Travel tools on the SW website, go to Change Reservation. Enter your flight info...and indicate which flight(s) you are changing (the ones that the price dropped)....then it will pull up the list of optional fares and you can click the bubbles with the lower prices. From there, I "think" it says, get new pricing or something like that...if it shows a credit then just confirm it and you'll get a message about the rest of the $$ going into ticketless travel funds, to be used in a year from when you booked the flight.

If the internet fare were available, yes the OP could do this, but the OP indicated that they were not available.

I booked my flight for March in August when they opened up. I booked the promotional fare, which was over $200. I checked the site every morning, and last Thursday the internet fare showed up. Fortunately, it was still available and I was able to get my flight for $189. The secret is to just check every day. Every once in a while SW will have a nationwide sale and you can get Click'n'Save Email notification for those, but not for internet fares.

Keep watching!

I have a question about the funds.....I realize you have to use them within a year of when you booked the original flight...but that's when you have to pay for your next set of tickets, right....not when your flight will leave?

In other words....I buy tickets on July 1....on September 1 the price goes down and I now have funds in my account.....on June 30 I could use those funds to buy tickets that don't leave until November or whenever right? You just have to spend that money before the year.

I'd like to buy tickets when they reach a decent price....but if we then get a great deal I want to be able to use the funds next for a flight next November/December....so I'm unsure if that means I have to wait to buy them in Nov/Dec or if I that year to use the funds means I could buy Nov flight so long as it's before the year?

Oh, I totally read that wrong...I read it as, the internet specials weren't there, but now they are...missing the part about no availability.
My bad! :thumbsup2

I think you have to book and complete the flight within that year..but I'm not 100% sure.I'm sure someone will chime in on that. I fly many times a year, so don't run into that issue.

If I'm not mistaken you have to use the Ticketless Trave Funds and fly within the year of initial purchase, not just make a reservation.

I couldn't find the information on when to use Ticketless Travel on the SWA website, but I remember trying to use ticketless travel funds for a flight and was told this.

Thanks! I guess I need to just be patient and wait until December to book my January flight......I hope that's not cutting it too close!

And hey Wendy....I totally hear ya on the heat...I'm in Phoenix and ready for something that doesn't start with a 1.
