Southwest window opened this morning

So bummed. Trying to fly from St. Louis on the November 26 and they are $189! I was expecting them to be cheaper since it was the first day. I haven't seen them go below $189.

I would say 50% of the time they will reload more WGA fares the next day after "selling out". If not, it might be weeks. They want to get people to panic and pay up now.

thank you for the this.

looked at 7:30AM for PVD-MCO for 11/12 - 11/19 for my and sisters family. Sis has not wanted to fly SW because of no seat assignment. 7:30AM was $380 RT, e-mailed sis and drove to work. by 9AM flights were up ~ $100 pp. same for Manchester, NH.

SW wants $309 per person from dsm to mco on Nov 28 (Monday after Thanksgiving). Same leg is currently $144 in September. We'll be waiting for awhile to see what happens. We could drive up to Minneapolis and fly Sun Country for $154 each way instead. That would at least be better than driving.

Booked flights for Thanksgiving time period. I was surprise how high they were using points. Had to switch from MHT to PVD, and leave on Thanksgiving Day. For the last two years, I got decent flights pre-Thanksgiving, on Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning. Still, since my points did cover it, I'm happy. (I'm flying to TPA, not MCO.)

I would be SHOCKED if those Wed PVD flights did not go down. I've always paid <$150 the Wed before Thanksgiving from PVD. Something else to be aware of is SW now uses a variable redemption rate for points depending on the day/time of flight. Some flights are as low as 70 pts per $ and some are as high as 80. In other words, the same priced flight in cash might not be the same price in points.

It's amazing people still believe that Southwest loads low fares with there initial schedule. Unless your travel coincides with a major holiday where demand increases, anything else will just be a placeholder; especially months out. This is true for any airline.

Case in point. This is my local route with Southwest for the month of November.

Now here's the same route with Jetblue whose schedule has been out since February of this year.

As you can see some of Southwest pricing is just simply ridiculous. However they will get a few souls who book immediately thinking that's the best price.

Thanks. I always check airfares for price drops, and I know points vs cash can be a poor value at peak times, but I prefer to use points if I can because it gives better flexibilty if I cancel. I 'd rather not end up with SW credits that will expire. My flights only dropped in one direction last year, and I booked roughly a week after they were released.

I didn't know Jetblue was that much less, so it will be good to keep in mind when I'm out of SWA points and gift cards. I still have a bunch of gift cards from a Visa promo from a few years ago.

It was amazing how fast prices were rising this AM but it looks like they are leveling off now. I got RT from MHT to MCO in Dec for $320 rt per dollar value (i used points though). Not great but not bad either i guess. I will keep a watch though to see if they drop between now and then and if so I will re book to get some points back.

Albany, NY. Paying less this year then we did for our flights last year, surprisingly!
Were flying out of Albany as well $108 down and $98 back nonstop flights. Very happy with those prices! Now we will keep watching if they drop anymore.

Booking in the opposite direction. DD works at another popular Orlando theme park and wants to come home to CT for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. I booked both trips with points til she decides. Her return flight on 12/27 was $101 when I booked at 6:30 and $340 now! Actually hoping all the flights come down some as all are quite a bit more than I usually pay. But it is the holidays so I will wait and watch. So not used to booking this early!

I totally forgot that fares for Nov were opening this morning. And my alert on my phone alerted me at about noon today! Ugh! So, I just booked w/points our way down from Chicago MDW to MCO on @ $162/9904 points. Ugh, much higher than usual. Wondering if that's where they opened at this morning or if they were much lower and I missed it. I'm holding off on the return flights as they are @ $200 for the times we want later in the evening, even more during other parts of the day. I expect things to go down and to get points back from the first portion of the trip, but prices are so high this year, ugh!

@Disneylover99 sorry, that made me laugh out loud! :upsidedow

We couldn't get a flight. I'd book my flight w my reward points the by the time I'd book my mom's the return flight would be gone.

We fly from Long Island. It's a smaller airport, so I doubt more fares get added. We figured with it being such a small airport that maybe we'd luck out. Haven't driven in years, but looks like we're renting a minivan and driving down 12/23. Could be worse - we could NOT be going.

Just stinks our trip is now cut down a day or so.

Ok, I'm freaking out! The SWA fares from Dallas to Orlando are over $400 each way!! What?!?! I wasn't planning on paying that round trip. Horrible!

More will get added for sure. I fly out of ISP sometimes too.

Wouldn't it be possible to fly out of another airport? I'd rather drive to another airport & pay for parking than drive all the way to Florida. Just a suggestion.

I noticed the nonstops from EWR(Newark NJ) to MCO are again cheaper than PHL (Philadelphia) to MCO in this release. This is a fairly recent phenomenon, it got me to use EWR in October (it's closer to me anyway, but we have been using SW from PHL for years).

Oh man - hopefully. For now, we're preparing for the worst. We've been looking into rental cars just in case. Our main concern is if we rent a van then all of a sudden we go to pick it up on 12/22 and they tell us they don't have any vans. It happened to us on Sandy, understandably, and recently when my sister needed work done on her car.

Oh - believe me, we've checked. My grandma lives in Tampa and we checked for flights to Tampa - Nothing. SW doesn't go out of JFK and Jet Blue (which does) is around the same price or more as SW's next level ($500+). Laguardia doesn't have any direct flights and driving to Baltimore would be a bigger headache than anything else. I can totally see us hitting crazy traffic or a huge snow storm happening the day we need to leave. If we're driving, we chalk it up to bad luck and leave the next day. If we need to get to a flight in Baltimore or New Jersey - we're you know what!

All good ideas though. It's hard to believe we have so many airports around us and can't find a good price on flights. We've been blessed the past few years with SW. We wake up at 5:30am, drive 40 mins to ISP and we're off to Disney. Gonna be rough this year but we've done it before. I have a lot of fond memories in the car growing up and driving to Disney. I guess we'll do it one last time.

Flying out of philly 11/5 returning 11/12. American Airlines was listed at 540 dollars. Nonstop with an am flight from from Phl and an afternoon flight from MCO. Got on SW website at 6;00 am they started at 6;30. Tried to book 9 people it wouldn't let me so I did my group of five and got it for 330 dollars a p/p. Tried to do my sisters right after which was less then 5 minutes and when I went to pay it said the cost had changed. When I started over it had gone up 60 dollars p/p in ten minutes. I checked later in the day it had gone up 180 dollars to 510 p/p unbelievable. The merger of USAIR and AA has killed competition out of Philly.

Try Bradley out of CT. Heck, you could leave your car at my house & I'll drop you off!!
