I am holding on and waiting for Southwest to open the schedule for Jan 11-22. We have booked with them many times and have been happy. My question is, if we book with Southwest and then later lower fares are available for our days/flights will they compensate by rebooking, refunding, voucher or no changes without fees?

No change fee, and a credit to be used on a future flight within one year of your original purchase date but these are not automatic - you have to request them.

Actually.....I really lucked out with Southwest last week. I originally bought 4 round trips for 769.40 about 2 months ago. Then last week I got DINGed for the same flights for 597.00!!! Well I called Southwest and they told me I could only get a credit towards future flights but she gave me a customer service number to try for a refund. Well when the guy answered he simply said, go online (DING), buy your tickets at the 597.00 then call me back and I'll refund the 769.00 to your credit card!!!! So I did and I just got my reimbursement yesterday on my card!!!

So even though their policy says no refund, they will if you get the right person.

In fact I have his direct number if anyone ever needs it.

Could I have his number please ?
thanks

Me too please. I'm going to need it in the future (I HOPE). Do any of you have any tricks for the Ding. I can't get it to work on my computer. I have tried everything....I can't even get it to un-install so that I can re-install it.

The guy that I dealt with is Chris and his direct number is 214-792-4091.

Good Luck!

I gotta tell you that I LOVE those SW customer service folk....they are so helpful and friendly....the main CS number is 214-792-4223. I have never had them refuse to refund and they will cheerfully extend your ticketless travel funds for 6 months after they are due to expire if you just call and ask...you can use your ticketless funds to book flights for anyone you wish, anytime, no change fees....in todays airline market it is just SOOO nice not to have to haggle and pay change fees, etc.

I used to avoid SW because of the unassigned seat issue....but I long ago decided the customer service was worth a lot more than a preassigned seat (that the airline changes on you 40% of the time anyways!!).

What if the flight is already sold out? Can you still get the lower rate?
