Does anyone have a link to the 50k offer for Southwest Visa for Plus card? I already have the premier card so need the offer for the personal plus card. I am only 40k points away from companion pass:):)

Its on the Southwest site today!! On the front page of the website it says 2 round trips with the premier card, but when you click on the link and scroll down, the plus offer is on the bottom. I've been checking almost every day for this offer as well:goodvibes

I see where it says get 2 Round trip flights but then when you click it, it says you only get 25,000 points. Do you mind posting a link for the 50,000

Nevermind I found it....LOL Thanks for posting that its available :)

Quick question. If I get the Plus card, how long does it take for me to get the card so I can start charging? I got the Signature card in January and can't remember. Also, I'm concerned about how long it will take to post the points to my Rapid Rewards account. For instance, will the points count for this year if they are earned in December but not credited to my account until 2015? Thanks!

I got instantly approved and it said I'd get the card in 7-10 days. So, if you got it right away and charged $2000 (you could even buy grocery gift cards or something you know you will use), you should have the bonus before the end of the year. I'm assuming you are asking because of the companion status?

Yes, I'm interested in the Companion Pass. :)

The points get credited to your account when a billing period ends and you have charged and paid off that $2000. So, if you charged 2k and paid it off before the billing period ends, it is feasable you could get the 50k points if the billing period ends before December 31.

However, you don't want this if you are going for a companion pass. Companion passes require 110k points in one year. if you get 50k in this year, then you start over on Jan 1. Also, companion passes last until Dec 31 of the year following the year in which you get the pass. Thus, if you get to 110k this december, your pass expires Dec of '15. If you get 110k points in January, then the pass lasts until Dec. of '16.

Yeah, I'm going for the companion pass for next year and plan to wait til January to complete my $2000 spend, but Martha already had one card this year and needed to finish her 110,000 miles by dec 31.

Dh has one that he got June 2013 that expires 12/31/14. It was a nice run. Hoping I can get one by April for a spring break trip:goodvibes

i have a question...DD wants to go to New York as a graduation gift from DH and i. I have been looking into getting this card; but i am confused...If i get it, and we earn the 50000 points, is that good for just my ticket, or for all of ours (if we have enough points)?

You can book as many tickets as you want with the points, it just depends on how many points the flights are.

Wait, do the bonus points count for companion pass? I thought I read they didn't. I just was approved for the premier card, so it's possible I'll get the bonus before year end and if so, we could maybe arrange to make it to 110,000.

To answer my own question, I think they do, because that's why people were applying for the personal card and business card in the same year. But, we are going to be about 12,000 short. That's a lot to make up in less than 2 months...shoot.

ETA, okay, I'll have to think about delaying the bonus points to post in 2015 and try to hit it that year, but it's still going to take all year to try to get to 110,000 in a year. We charge a lot for DH's semi, but not quite that much. Oh well.

Yes, you are correct, they do. Points you purchase or transfer do not count, but bonus points do. Can you wait until January and then apply for 2 cards in the name of whomever doesn't currently have one? That's the easiest way to a companion pass.

Does anyone know if balance transfers count toward the $2000 you need in the first 3 months?

I was just reading the fine print and it says that the offer is for people that haven't earned bonus points in the last 24 months. Does that mean that if I get the business card too I will not get the bonus points on the business card? I'm thinking companion ticket and I know people have done that in the past, but has anyone gotten it recently off 2 new accounts?

No balance transfers not qualify for the bonus point requirement. But you will earn 1 point per $1 transferred.
