Southwest verses Delta?

We fly out of MSP. And have been flying 1-3 times a yr to MCO since 2001. We used SW for the first time last year and loved them. We loved that we got flights in April to MCO for $200 pp and didn't have to pay for luggage. They were direct last yr, which changed a couple weeks after we traveled. We got in early both legs. I checked in right at the 24 hr mark for both legs of the trip and we got the beginning of the second group to board both times and all got to sit together. We LOVE the smaller Humphry terminal. They've recently updated it with more food options. We love the kids play area for our DD. And obviously, the parking is cheaper at Hunmphery terminal parking ramps vs. Lindbergh. With Delta, we've experienced ticketing issues and flight delays. I hate how you have to pay for everything extra now, like your seat assignment, etc.. I also dislike where the gates are for Delta in that long stretch at Lindbergh. Feels like we always get the last gate and it takes forever to get there.

Have you ever used Sun Country? We've had great service with them as well. They fly out of Humphrey and bags are $5 less to check than Delta. Plus, they have direct flights and offer a bfast sandwich or cheeseburger on flights, no extra fee. They also have a CC which allows for one free checked bag.

I agree with you that the level of service in airline industry has slipped in the last 50 years. It is bound to get worse for people paying the lowest prices and improve for people paying top dollar. It is only a matter of time before airlines like Spirit start charging you by weight, charging for the bathroom, or any other terrible customer service policy they can think up. People will still book because the price appears low.
